Before the clock had struck midnight on Friday evening, I was still putting a deal together with a 12:00 noon deadline on Saturday. Because I had two other clients to attend to (a buyer and a new listing) throughout the next day, it was imperative for me to properly get this deal contracted before the start of my weekend workday.
Nevertheless, doing business as a Colorado Springs Realtor these days takes quite a bit of moxie and extra hard work to really get the job done. And sometimes, we’re faced with some highly unusual circumstances for which we must plow through until the end. I’m certainly not complaining about being busy within the industry, but this is a message about the bizarre happenings that sometimes come with the territory.
Here’s a recap of my Friday (specifically as this relates to consumer service), not counting all of the brokerage, administrative, marketing and financial responsibilities…
I met with a buyer from New York who purchased a home from me sight unseen. After a few hours, I then left this appointment to take video of two other properties for another out-of-state buyer. Then I finished up a counter via iPad (on the move) that my listing client tried to sign electronically. However, this process did not go as smoothly as I had hoped for as this process lingered into the late portions of the evening.
My listing client who was responding to the counter works as a small business owner who operates his own store. During my detailed explanation of how to sign e-contracts over the telephone, two younger kids entered his place of business and shoplifted from his store. My client quickly put me on hold, as he proceeded to chase his robbers through the parking lot. Unsuccessful at his attempt to catch them, he came back into the store and we finished the counter to the contract.
Thinking my evening had come to an end after having a crazy conversation with my seller, I still had to make sure my (7) youtube videos loaded properly onto my site.
All in all, I did finish my workday just before midnight, signifying, “It’s another exciting day in the Colorado Springs Real Estate World!” I’ll do what it takes, if even the course veers from the usual path, to better serve the client.
