Through out San Diego, Ca. The upper end market of million dollar homes has seen a surprising appreciation, of 15% per DataQuick information systems in 2010.
Last year, San Diego county saw 1,814 sales in that price range up from 1,578 in 2009, a possible sign the high-end market may be picking up. This upward motion is mirrored statewide in California, where 22,529 homes priced at $1 million or more sold in 2010, up 21% from 2009 when 18,621 sold.
In San Diego county, the priciest sale in 2010 was a 4 bedroom 4.5 bath beach front home in Coronado & it sold for $10.5 million per county assessor's records. Was on the market 158 days, with an original asking price of $14.8 Million.
Though sales of high-end homes rose last year in San Diego County they're still 68 % lower than the peak of 5,671 sold in 2005.
Local San Diego buyers are speculating that the upper end could have reached bottom which might account for the increase in sales volume.
