Beautiful Day in Sunny Simi Valley, California

By
Real Estate Agent with Dilbeck Real Estate CalBRE#01339470

I know this is not Speechless Sunday or Motivational Monday or Wordless Wednesday.
But these were taken in my backyard of Beautiful Southern California in Simi Valley.
We occasionally have a few cold days here. We have a storm that passes by and most of the time it leaves us without this beauty.

Our elevation is between 700 to 1000 feet and we are about 20 miles from the Ocean to give a bit of perspective so it is not often we get this.

The first set was Saturday February 19th. A day after the quick storm we had.

The next picture is heading toward the North end of the San Fernando Valley, about 30 miles away, that is more North than Simi Valley. Rare that we see these mountains touched but a great day indeed.

The last set was Sunday February 27th. I could not pass this up. It was bitter cold, for Simi Valley, California, a blistering 34 degrees. Rarely do we here the news state that we "might see snow as low as 1000-1200 feet". I wanted to wake up and see dusting in my backyard but it was only covered in the mountains in the not too far distance. Not quite Simi Valley but a beauty none the less.

So I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

Kristen - Us too. The people in the store I was in were raving about "oh it is snowing, I heard it was going to snow". Little did they know that it was hail. I just did not want to keep rambling on my blog post.

Donne - I wish I would have had
a camera that had a super telephoto lens but my measly little 35mm supershot did the job.

Hasn't it been gorgeous the past couple of days.  Freezing, but look at those views.  We can see them here also, which is rare.  No smog cloud.

Endre - And I picture you with a camera on your front seat everywhere you go. I hope you Open was good.

It is still there you just need to capture with the right light. Of coarse tomorrow is not the day as we are expecting rain once again. But the weekend....clear sky.

Jane 1 - I love the clear blue skies. My wife and I were heading to Burbank on a day and it was so beautiful. Today that view was a bit cloudy but we will have it back. The snow will not melt yet.

Jane 2 - I agree. Some people get to enjoy this in their backyard in So Cal but I rarely get it here. So I had to capture it.

Thanks to you all for stopping by. I appreciate it.

Thank you for sharing those pics, Ken. Driving out I-80 yesterday, I could see the Sierra clear as day. We get a lot of smog from the Bay area that gets captured and hangs over the central valley, so it's not every day one can view the Sierra in Sacramento. I could see the San Gabriel mountains when I lived in Newport Beach only once a year or so. Such a shame that we can't enjoy these views all of the time.

Elizabeth - I know what you mean about the smog. We have haze sometimes but lately we have had some real clear and COLD days.

Newport I can imagine that there is a clear crystal view.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it.

Great pictures Ken!  I used to drive through Simi Valley a lot when I lived in Southern California.  Never knew anyone in Simi, but north and south of there.  It is a pretty area.

Susan - I have been here a long time. We were going to move out of the area a few years ago to Newbury Park and we decided at the last minute we love SIMI.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate it.

We had snow down to 1500 feet, which made for some beautiful pictures of downtown San Diego with snow-capped mountains in the background.

We got snow in our mountains this winter, too, lots of it. They had a foot out in Julian, at the 4,500-foot level. Very beautiful, but too cold for me to live in.

Russell - I don't know the level
of these mountains but it is not too far off 2500 feet. Simi, where it was expected to snow at this time, is 1000-1200 feet.

I remember Julian in the days.

Thanks for stopping by again.
