How to create your own newsletter in less than an hour.
Katherina,
Back in the early days of "desktop" publishing Mac's were it. And IMO today, they still are. There used to be that gap of applications and things not working on a Mac the way they would on a PC, but now you can run Windows on a Mac, and Windows runs better on my Mac, than on most of my PC's.
My experience has brought me that I use both platforms, depending on what I'm doing. There are things I like on a PC better than a Mac and vice versa.
I might be making the switch to a MAC myself too Coach "K". Thanks for sharing. Great post.
Great Post! I just purchased an i7, IMac 27 and an i5, 17 Mac Book Pro. The dynamic duo!!!!! Can't believe how fast my videos process. Would never go back!!!!
Katrina:
Watching your video makes me want to get a Mac. But so many application we use are set up for PCs. You always do a great job with your"How To" videos. Thanks.
Katerina, the Mac sure makes a very professional looking newsletter. I like the double sided print feature. Thanks.
ALLEN!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!! We have in our office, 2 huge iMac 27s- AREN"T THOSE THE DADDY OF all computers!!! I am SOO productive on the 27" screens, when I multi task or do research projects, make comments or write posts, the 27" allows for such incredible optimization of my time. I have iPhoto open on one side, my twitter stream down the left side, safari open and firefox open, then work through all of them. It saves a ton of time. That alone was worth buying these two iMac 27"screens.
Nestor and then each have the iMac Book pros- both 17" which I LOVE!!!! Then we have an iPad which I am very jealous because Nestor gets the new version and I have the old one:( But he has the iphone 3 and I have the iphone 4.
You are SOOO right, once to go to MAC YOU NEVER GO BACK!!!!
What a great commercial! I would be rich if they had affiliates!!!! Katerina
Thanks Katerina for all the info. We are a PC family and have always been one. When my daughter was going to college and we were deciding on a computer for her in the on campus store, we were told the mac is better on the artsy side - (hense the video's) but the pc was better on the business side. I was able to find a all kinds of newsletter templates on Word 7 that I'll have to play around with more. Thanks again though for the inspiration. Right now I send out an electronic version that is very simple more like an email with news.
Katrina, You really need to look into Screenflow for screen cast's. Reason one it will record the whole screen. Reason two it will hide all icons on the screen. Reason three callout's so you can make more visible what you are showing.
Reason four you can isolate any part of the capture so you're screen saver is not distracting from the video.
Here is a video I did and the first call out is 32 seconds in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-liApLaybGA
Jeff- iShowu does hide the console etc but this is the first time and only the second video I made like this. I forgot to minimize the console. I forgot to do a lot. I was in a hurry to get the content out there before my deadline of Sunday night, :) for my 10 posts for the week. It is a learning curve for me. Just like my podcasts are:)
I will check out Screenflow in the Apple store online. Thanks for the tip. Katerina
Katerina, you always have good tips to share. I think I'll have to check out the Apple line of computers next time I'm looking to purchase new equipment. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for this info. I'm a new Mac user and not been to the apple store yet for training! But I'm heading there soon. Been away from AR actively for a while and realizing how MUCH I miss your informative posts.
Nellie- get to the Apple store! You will learn so much and there are not a happier bunch of people who love to help! I am amazed at the customer service!
ehomes- So expensive? No, not at all when you do the actual math.
My brother has had his Apple computer since the 90's and it still runs in tip top shape. His only expense is updating the operating system which is so minimal compared to a pc. So when we had PCs we had to get new ones about every 2 years. We just gave away 7 of our old PCs sitting in our attic. That is a lot of wasted money.
Next, with MAC - everything comes with it. You know how now when you get a windows system, you have to buy the windows license? Do you know how much those are now? I AM WINDOWS FREE!!! The software that I bought to do ALL our excel type programs, word type programs, professional better than power point, etc, ALL together for a multi user license was $99. I could not believe it the first time I bought a mac, I asked, what do I have to buy extra so it is ready for working in our office, they said, iworks for 99 bucks. WOW! All the movie maker, the iphoto all of the other things come with it.
Add those up and you save money. Next, the time you save is = to money, actually more- because you can always make more money but you can not make more time. The time savings alone and the savings of doing a lot of this ourselves, has saved SO Much money!
Hey, they don't even pay me to be their fan!
