Fat Tuesday! Gotta Get the Donuts! Support Goshen Fire Company!

By
Real Estate Sales Representative with RE/MAX Preferred RS152252A

The Goshen Fire Company is at it again!  Making donuts that is!

Go over to 1320 Park Avenue, today, from 7 to 5 (or until the donuts run out) and pick up some of the best tasting donuts around!  Tomorrow is a good day to start the diet.  Not today!

The Goshen Fire Company website has a lot of very useful information on it about smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, so make sure to check it out.  They were organized on 7/21/50 and have provided fire protection to the residents of East Goshen and surrounding townships since then!  Ambulance service has been provided since 1952.

Their Mission Statement as taken from the website:

We, the members of the Goshen Fire Company, are dedicated to the preservation of life, property, and the environment.

As a volunteer and career department, our goal is to provide exceptional fire, rescue, fire police, and emergency medical service to the community through the recruitment and training of qualified individuals, providing them with the tools they need to perform any task.

We ask only for the support of our community to help us perform our mission of public service.

Please support Goshen Fire Company!

Susan, A great cause to promote!  Had to do some firefighting training in the Navy....and we never had to worry about floors falling out from under us or the roof over our head....my hat is off to these guys!  Bill

Chuck, we have a very active firehouse and they regularly make their famous donuts and about once a month I think, they have a community breakfast.  In August, they host a giant carnival, called the Goshen Fair and it's loads of fun with rides, games and livestock.  My kids don't like to go anymore, but I always head out, if only to buy the donuts.  The pizza is pretty good too!  I even won $100 once in their raffle ticket fundraiser!

Don, I'm trying to shed a few pounds too, which is why I got 10 of Max's favorite and only 2 of mine, which went very nicely with my morning tea!  Tomorrow is another day!

Joanna, our community is very supportive of our volunteer firefighters!

Ann, I bought one dozen.  10 cinnamon (for Max) and 2 powdered sugar (for me)!

Tammy, I thought of you and our Abigail as I wrote this!  xxoo

Sharon, the day started with two powdered donuts.  Sure to be a good day!  xxoo

Rich, it couldn't have come soon enough for me!  It means spring is coming.. although it's late this year, isn't it?

Gary, it is a great combination!

Bill, our firehouse is all volunteers and my hat is off to them every day.

Joan!  when I was picking up my donuts last night the firefighters were doing their drills!  It was very exciting to watch!  Thank your son from all of us for his vounteer work with the Fire Company.  I'm sure you are very proud of him!  xxoo

Cherise, tomorrow is another day.  I am going to try to step up my activity to include a brisk walk every morning with my dog to see if I can jumstart my metabolism.  At 51, it's not as easy as it used to be.  And thank you, it's a great fire department, all volunteers!

A huge jumpstart for metabolism is WEIGHTLIFTING. Even light regular weightlifting does the trick if you squeeze it in somewhere with Zumba or your walking. Muscle mass declines with age and muscle is the metabolism and fat burning engine. A secret between you and me Susan from my fitness knowledge, weightlifting is the fountain of youth. Try a personal trainer very briefly if you need to get set up on a program. Watch the excess sugars too, only in moderation.

Susan, the firefighters need to come up with donuts that don't make you fat!  I'm craving a glazed one right about now!

Robby, I'm not Catholic anymore so I think it's okay... I hope so anyway...

Gary, sugar is my problem, along with soft pretzels, good bread and pasta.  But I am going to try to get a brisk walk in with JJ every morning to jump start my metabolism and add one weightlifting class a week.  I have had to stop Zumba due to some knee problems.. :-(  I miss it and all the fun people who take it.

Denise, the donuts, as always, were yummy!

Tim, no, sadly!  Tastykake does though!

Pat, I don't think they've invented that donut yet!
