I have just turned off the TV, because I can't take it anymore.  The disasters and the devastation is so overwhelming I don't know what to do or where to start. I wonder what organization needs my money or stuff the worst?  I gave to the Haiti disaster and quite frankly, I don't think they did anything.  Those poor people are still in tents and card board boxes.  What do we do?

Who do we turn to so we know the money is actually going to where it is needed and will be actually used?  This is so bad on so many levels.  I think we really need to open our hearts and wallets, just be careful where you allocate your funds.

We are so lucky and blessed to be in America.

I have a hard time watching it myself.  I find myself just praying a lot for them.  I don't like how much the media sensationalizes everything.  heartbreaking!!!

It is very disturbing to watch, and it's almost impossble to turn on the tv without seeing more of the devastation - one reason why I don't watch the news on a daily basis.

The flooding images look horrifying. We really need each other at times like this. I hope that the financial contributions will be used wisely. And my family and I are praying for Japan.

Suzanne,

I share your concern regarding whether the funds are being delivered. Seems like there should be some kind of public (notice I didn't say government) watchdog agency.

It is so overwhelming and sometimes really does feel like there's not much we can do.  I tend to trust the Red Cross.  I also have donated when American Idol or Ellen have put up numbers to donate automatically from your cell phone.  I figure they wouldn't support a charitable group if it weren't trustworthy.
