Improve Your Happiness Quota During Earth Hour
Started in Australia in 2007 where 2.2 million people and over 2,000 businesses turned off their lights in a stand against climate change Earth Hour has grown to include a global network of close to 5,000,000 supporters in 100 countries. Earth Hour is where we as an individual take a stand against climate waste and work together to live in harmony with nature.
My first participation in Earth Hour was in 2009. I remember hearing about it late and running around turning off the lights and then sitting here wondering what the heck I was doing just sitting in the dark. Last year I had help with Earth Hour as a storm came through and knocked out my electric so I had no choice. LOL.
But this year is different. I am not only participating in Earth Hour as a choice made ahead of time but also using the time in a way I have not done before. I am combining this years Earth Hour with the opportunity to raise my happiness quota. Yes you heard that right. I am combining this years Earth Hour with the opportunity to raise my happiness quota.
Some time ago I heard that spending 'quiet time' or 'noiseless time' for a few minutes each day has proved to help raise one's happiness quota. Most people can benefit with just a minute or two a day and see wonderful results and if they allow more time per day the results improve as well. So I decided to give it a try and have been giving myself the gift of a few minutes a day for a couple weeks now. Mostly in my car as I am driving with no music or phone. I must say it has helped so.... I have decided that this Earth Hour would be the perfect time to up my happiness meter even more.
This years Earth Hour begins at 8:30 pm this Saturday March 26th 2011. And even if raising your happiness quoto is not on your agenda at least participate in helping to curb our climate usage in a grand stand kind of way.
