Perhaps you've heard about federal and private loan modification programs.  They're a joke.  They're few and far between.

Lenders converted sub-prime loans into stocks that were sold on Wall Street, making most sub-prime loans out of reach of the loan servicers when the borrower wants to modify their loan terms.

$Billions have bee appropriated for loan modifications... A few paltry $Million was actually spent on loan modifications.

Once again proving that the most useless sentence in the English language is, "Hi, I'm from the federal government and I'm here to help you."
