Small can be Huge
I'm sure I'm not the only one who sometimes feels a bit of envy when someone makes a big splash, a major statement, achieves a really big goal.
And yet, when I look at my life, the moments that stand out for me, the ones that I remember most frequently and feel are very important, are not the major milestones. They are the small acts that made a difference in someone's life at that time.
The moment of stopping the whirlwind of activity to witness and share a client's sadness about leaving the home she shared with her husband who died too young.
The incredible joy of helping a friend get - really deep-in-the-gut get - that she was actually right now, standing in the middle of Paris for the very first time.
The shared fun of having a client couple realize how their small living room could be transformed into a delightfully cozy place that fits the family really well.
Quiet moments, shared joy, or laughter, or tears. That moment when both hearts open, one to the other, that enables us to see deep into the other. This, for me, makes life worth living.
This is the person who is most likely to achieve what is good and lasting."
What are your small moments today?
