This little guy found in my Flower Mound garden is hungry for green. How about you?
Description
How would you describe him? Do you notice he seems to have a BIG smile on his face? He isn't drooling or looking desperate. Do you see his bright eyes? He is clearly staying focused. Have you noticed that he is climbing upwards and not backwards? Although I'm sure he can move backwards, he chooses to move upward and onward, isn't he? Do you think he's hanging on...or not? Or do you see him making choices? His feet are slow and steady; yet he's very fast on his feet too! He's smooth and ready, patiently waiting...
Unique Characteristics
As he makes each landing, he appears to be carefully looking ahead. To the observer, his executions are practically flawless. He moves his head from side to side. He is listening to something I can not hear; yet his unique experience seems to be relaxing. Would you agree? He seems to be enjoying himself and he's full of energy. There's energy in being green, isn't there? His life is balanced; he blends in well with his environment.
"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be exerted, wealth is useless and reason is powerless." --- Herophilies
Emotions
It is only human to have emotions, especially when you are hungry. I'm sure this little green fellow is hungry; yet by the looks of him, how would you know that is true? I am an observer, a woman with a camera, a purpose, waiting for action.... he is not intimidated by me at all. I am bigger than him. I'm sure I'm a lot older than him... yet he exhibits no fear. He climbs from place to place. He keeps moving and he stays still. There's a unique stillness in his quality of life. He sits on the leaf, his source of food, and he remains calm, cool, collected. Is that a smile on his face, or is he laughing at me? Is he waiting for my next move or does he concentrate on what he needs to do?
Challenges
Plants don't stay green forever. Green is very appetizing, isn't it? Why is that? What makes you hungry? Are you hungry for something green? How much green is enough? Life is a journey - it begins with birth and it takes one step at a time to reach the next level. Challenges are everywhere! The season of spring invites us to investigate our food source. A challenge is a mixture of shadows and light, sunny, and bright moments. The mixture of shade and sunny spaces affords us opportunities for growth. Being too greedy can make us prey. Being weak presents dangerous challenges, making it nearly impossible to survive. Green is a good hunting ground. Some, no matter what shape, size or seniority are hungrier than others...
How hungry are you really? Really? Just how far will you roam to get to your next food source? What challenges are you up for? What are you up against? Are they worth the challenge?
"No matter what looms today, if you can eat today, enjoy the sunlight today,, mix good cheer with friends today, enjoy it and bless God for it. Do not look back on happiness - or dream of it in the future. You are only sure of today; do not let yourself be cheated out of it." --- Henry Ward Beecher
Seasons
During certain seasons activity is low. During the planting season, everything looks green. A watchful eye begins the cycle of moving foward or holding back. Why hold back no matter what the season? When sleep occurs during one season of life, nocturnal animals have none of man's artificial devices for overcoming darkness - they use their sensory equipment to get their needs met. Darkness does not have to be perpetual. A light bright energy source can burn you out. Balance is the key to being green. Virtually, nothing is impossible. We need the seasons to appreciate life. Green takes many forms and green doesn't have to last forever...or does it?
The seasons of life, like the little green guy in my garden is quick! In one quick leap and the brush of my hair from across my face, it caused him to leap into any unknown abyss... or did he walk into the sunlight, a brighter place that I could not see?
