When the Left ain't Right ...

By

The cynic in me thought two things:

- The far right wouldn't believe that Bin Laden is dead, only that Obama shaved his beard.

- The far left wouldn't just say this is good for the Country and Humanity, but utilize it as a tool to continue to bash anything that is Republican (or far right).

God, I was hoping I was wrong.  And WOW, I'm naive as hell.

I haven't changed the title to this post because I was going to bash the Left-Wing Media like they were Mike Tyson's Girlfriend back in his glory days.

I was going to sit here and opine about the News Coverage on Bin Laden finally being taken out and how bad I thought the Left-Wing Media (MSNBC, in particular) handled it.  I didn't watch Maddow, who I like and respect.  Don't want to lump her with the coal.  Not yet, at least.  The others though, they went and started on a Bush Crusade which I thought unnecessary on every level.  In fact, I was kind of hoping that our beloved Media (including contributors to this forum) wouldn't make it Political at all.  But they did ... of course they did.

And it reminds me once again of Radicals.  Back in the day, I used to think being a Radical was a pretty good thing, a cool thing.  Then, I entered the Real World and saw and read and felt what Radicals of any Nature actually do ... divide and undermine.  Sometimes they revolutionize, but I'm not sold on that with Today's Breed of Bullshit.  While I don't mind differing positions on philosophies and issues, I do mind hating for the sake of hating.  And that's what I'm seeing and reading and feeling, even after all of this.

Being a Radical isn't just disagreeing with someone.  Being a Radical isn't just playing with your nipples as the sun goes down.  Being a Radical is a trait I don't want to behoove on anybody.

In Retrospect, I shouldn't have entitled this post "When the Left ain't Right ... " , I should have entitled it, "You ain't God ..." and we'll all find out the truth, the whole truth, eventually.  Or, so we think and believe ..

Jason, There's just no making either end of the spectrum happy.  Each postures and tries to play every event to their personal agenda, and to hell with what's actually right or good for America.  Speaking of which....need to go vote to raise my taxes this morning...school levy that needs passed!

I feel your pain!  In my short post yesterday I was just happy to feel good about our Country.  I didn't care who got the credit, put the politics aside, it was a feel good moment.  Like you I turned on the new and did my usual flicking between FOX & MSNBC (I like to get both sides).  I had to turn MSNBC off because of where they were taking the story.  FOX can be extreme also but yesterday there was praise where praise should be, at the White House steps.

I just want to add one thing:  It took giant brass political balls to order the go-ahead for this mission.  If it had gone wrong, the comparisons to"Operation Eagle Claw" and Carter would have been instantaneous and politically lethal.

BTW, I was on the Fox News website yesterday, and of course, one of thier major stories was an interview with a Taliban leader claiming that bin Laden was already dead when the Special Ops guys arrived....in order to raise the question; "What really happened?"

Well - Obama made the stupid decision to bury the body at sea - how one can make the right and wrong decision in a few hours.

I need to work with you more on your vocabulary usage :) Not sure why Nick thinks the sea burial was a mistake. Seems like a sound decision to prevent a Morrisonesque graveside martyrdom. He didn't deserve a pretty headstone. His poetry sucked.

I believe Obama got out of the way and allowed the military to take him out.

Always partisan politics .... always.

I kind of like the title.

Sardi - it was a great day that has been diminished by the immediate reaction of some to politicise it. There is evidence that even before the public announcement there were some on the left that were already strategizing on how to make it all about Obama. And yes, there have been some on the right who will not give due credit. But then again, if you look at recent history, even before the shooting stopped (almost) in Tucson, there were those already blaming the Right, the Tea Party and especially Sarah Palin. Its become an unfortunate fact of life, without Mrs. Garret to calm things down.

Bin Laden's death was as inevitable as it's political use by both sides.

Ron - You are probably right, my man.

Saunders - Thanks!  Even though my usage of grammar was a tad bit off once again.  Shoot, I need to edit this stuff before I press Submit.

Saunders - Let me guess, you had a crush on Mrs. Garret?  Kidding.  I think we agree on pretty much everything except Mr. Obama.  That's okay.

Mike - Always ... and it makes me want to start the Human Party (George Costanza is of course, our Reagan) and Festivus is our Christmas.  Hmmm ...

Mike - Or Obama is stronger in Foreign Policy than some give him credit for.  I love ending sentences with a prepositions.  Either way, I believe the one of the Bad Guys got what was coming ...

Israel - Sorry, this blog does not allow the use of explicatives or articulating how you really feel.  But don't fucking stop now! ;)

Georgia - I'm not sure Bin Laden wrapped in Bacon is a cuisine I could eat.  I'd prefer Veal if given the choice.  And I don't eat that either.  Full grown cows are another story;)

MJ - You had me at "Poetry".  I think the situation was handled wonderfully and as a Country, I'm glad we got the little bit of glimmer that may reside in what we call due justice.

Georgia - Duely noticed.  He's the Fact Guy to keep you Hard-Core Right Folks in line ... or at least perpetually pissed off because another side exists;)

Nicholas - How was that stupid?

Karl - Upon immediate reflection, I was more impressed by Fox News in their reporting of this than MSNBC.  But I smell what you are cooking.

Lois - I totally concur.

Thanks for the Life Lesson, Georgia.  Doesn't make that life or US any more right (pun intended).  Lots to learn from through the ages ...

Bill - :)  I just may vote for you.  But I think you have a good thing going with this Real Estate Gig.

One giant game to keep the masses distracted and fighting.  The Left-Right paradigm might as well be the new civil war.

Tony, for many, many folks... the Left-Right paradigm already IS the new civil war.  And most of the time it isn't very civil, either.
