I just had another SPAM comment stopped dead in it's track on my outside blog. I didn't stop it. It was stopped by Akismet.
I have Akismet on my outside blog because Jim Cronin put it there. But at Akismet.com they state that you can get it too! They're so dead set against spam that they put this on their site:
"In the spirit of helping the blogosphere as much as possible, we've decided to make Akismet free for as many people as possible. We have free API keys available for your personal blog."
Every time I log into my outside blog and see that there's something in the Akismet folder I run over to make sure they didn't block a legitimate comment. To this day they haven't made a mistake once. Akismet is incredible! You wouldn't believe the junk that tries to gain linkspace on your blog posing as a legitimate comment. But fake moustaches and all, Akismet recognizes it and banishes it to the black hole in the blogosphere reserved for spammers.
Take that you spammer!
