Hope your Memorial Day weekend was great; time for friends, family and remembrance. Two Sisters Talking - Food-Recipes - How About a Nice, Tall, Cool One

The weather was certainly hot in some parts of the country and looks they will continue.  So, I thought maybe youd appreciate a few great thirst quenching drink recipes.

Recipe #1 - Honeydew Lime Cooler

  1. 1 small honeydew melon, seeded and cut into 1" cubes
  2. 1/2 cup seedless red grapes
  3. 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  4. 1/2 cup honey
  5. 2 cups seltzer water

Place the cubed melon and grapes into the freezer for about an hour. In a blender, combine the frozen melon and grapes with the lime juice and honey. Process until smooth. Fill glasses until half full and then top off with the seltzer water. Stir and serve immediately.d then top off with the seltzer water. Stir and serve immediately

Recipe #2 - Cherry Smash

  1. 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, pits removed
  2. 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  3. 4 teaspoons sugar
  4. 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  5. 3 cups seltzer water

Divide the cherries, mint leaves, and sugar into four glasses. Mash these ingredients together with a wooden spoon or muddler. Stir in the lime juice and fill each glass with ice. Top off with the seltzer and garnish with fresh mint leaves. Serve immediately

Recipe #3 - Peachy Green Tea

  1. 6 green tea bags
  2. 6 cups cold water
  3. 2 peaches, pitted and sliced
  4. Honey to taste

Place the tea bags into a large pitcher. Put the sliced peaches in a saucepan and add the water. Bring to a boil and let simmer for about three minutes. Pour the water and the peaches over the tea bags in the pitcher. Let steep for about 10 minutes and then stir in the honey to taste. Allow the tea to cool and then refrigerate until thoroughly cooled. To serve, spoon a few peaches from the pitcher into each glass and top with the tea.

Cheers!

I'm not a honeydew fan, but watermelon might work in its place, huh?  And the peachy green tea sounds like heaven.

Pamela - Thanks for the recipes. It's going to be hot (by our standards) here this week. I do believe I will try these out with a bit of vodka added.

Watermelon is a good choice, Heather.  Tell me how it turns out.

Um, can I change my answer?  I like Dick's idea better.  Maybe not vodka, but rum or tequila might work on a couple of them.  Although, vodka with watermelon would be good, too.  Hmm.  I think my weekend's planning itself.  It'll make those family BBQ's much easier. :)

Pamela, They all sound good, the fruity crisp versions and the one with the vodka and rum/tequila!
