Hi Everyone, I wanted to re-blog this so my readers , many of which know and adore Jeff Dowler, would know that Jeff just lost his sister to an illness and wondered if you would go to his post and leave a note of your condolences.

Many Thanks, Jeff will appreciate it so much.

The is one of those posts you write purely for yourself, because there is a personal need to do so.

My daughter and her husband are expecting their first baby in a few weeks - we are all very excited. My wife and I, my younger daughter, and my daughter's very best friend are hosting a baby shower tomorrow in Culver City at Brunello Trattoria, a wonderful Italian place we have frequented many times. The closest friends in the area will be there and it should be a wonderful time.

Unfortunately I won't be there.

I am at LAX and in transit, as quickly as I could be, back to the Philadelphia area - my sister has been in a hospice for a couple of weeks and this was to be the last visit, the 3rd in as many weeks.

I didn't make it.

Thankfully, with technology my Mom was able to reach me immediately just a couple of minutes after my plane to LAX from San Diego landed. This is one of those time I regret being so far away.

Phone calls have been made, and now I sit, wishing I was some place else.

Hi William - Thanks for the heads up. I have enjoyed Jeff's blogs for some time. I have recently had a similar experience, losing my dear Uncle Freddie when his stepdaughter was about to give birth to twins. Freddie's wife Carol struggled with being torn between caring for him and for her daughter during the last stages of a difficult pregnancy with twins. I spent as much time as I could with Freddie, including sitting overnight at his bedside, but I was getting a bit of sleep when he passed, so I wasn't sitting with him at that minute. The twins were born after Freddie died, but they are healthy and adorable. A very emotional time, as I know it is for Jeff, going through a similar roller coaster of emotions.

Thank you, William, for sharing this. It means so much to have the thoughts of so many friends - people I know well and those I don't know as well - from the AR family. It's very comforting.

It is this sort of closeness that makes AR such a special place.
