Red Feather Lakes Campgrounds Full Again?

By
Real Estate Agent with United Country Ponderosa Realty, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado

It was Friday morning at 8:37 and the West Lake Campground was already full, I'm not sure about the others but I know it's not any fun drving around looking for a place to camp.

It's disappointing to get all packed up and ready to enjoy a weekend of relaxation...

Only to see something like this:

DON'T GET YOUR Knickers WADERS IN A TWIST:

You can get your VERY OWN camping spot in Red Feather Lakes !

Several parcels of land  between 1 acres - 3.5 acres are available in Crystal Lakes- now that's a nice size campsite!  Some already have driveways, turn-a rounds , electricity,  and fire pits.  All you would need to do is pull in and start having fun.

When you are a property owner in Crystal Lakes you can get water for your RV/camper, there is a dump station, restaurant and laundry facilities too.

Wouldn't it be great to not ever worry again about the campgrounds being full? You can even leave your rig on your property for 5 months out of the year. That will save on gasoline!

It's too late to help you this weekend, but with a little advanced planning we can find the perfect camping spot for you.

~

This summer could be the best summer yet!

No more twisted waders, or worry about finding a place to camp...

and you'll never be caught by surprise again.

Cabins, Homes and other lands are also available.

Mary, What a great idea. They should definitely call you to find a piece of land.

Now that sounds perfect.  My own personal campground spot that will never be taken.  I know some folks who have a place like this in Tennessee and they love it.

Hi Mary!  This sounds like an excellent alternative to taking a chance on finding a place.  Happy camping!

Craig, you're right and sometimes we end up with a less than ideal camping spot because all the good ones are already taken!  Buying a camping lot makes it really easy!  That poor fish- when he flung the hook out of his mouth it got him in the neck! wait, do fish have necks?

Linda, I have just to agree - that's the only sensible thing to do :-)

Tammy, most people don't have time on the weekend to back-pack into the wilderness -- their own spot that is always available for them is ideal.  I understand why your friends in Tennessee would love that arrangement too!

Hi Lou, it is a great time for camping!  and busy too, a lot of people like to come here on the weekends!

Gary, that's right!  You relayed my message perfectly! Thank you :-)

Hi Ann, I think it's a great alternative  and most of the time, a lot more private than a campground, too!  There are a lot of "Happy Campers" in  Crystal Lakes this time of year.

Mary, now THAT's a great idea.  Can an owner also rent out portions of their lots to others?  That would help offset the taxes.  Interesting concept.

Oh what an excellent concept! If anyone wants to go in on a "timeshare," I'm in!! Camping at Red Feather Lakes would be dreamy...wonderful idea, Mary!

Juli, owners can have visitors and family members camp there too!  A few owners have rented their lots for the season, if they can't  make use of it for themselves.  The taxes are only about $600  per year so they're not too bad.

Mara, I will keep my ears open for you for someone to share a fractional ownership! :-)  I think it's a great idea for people to get together and share the use and expenses.  A time share is a spendid idea!

I might could camp in a "camper", I didn't care of the camping in a tent my folks did when I was a child.  I'm more of a "away from the bugs" kind of girl.  Can one leave their camper parked on these spots and drive there on weekends for the season without hauling the camper every weekend?

Mary-Tammy asked a question I would be curious about. I don't do tents and bugs and NO outhouses. LOL

Mary, we have two parcels "up north".  And, Tammy, we use a van with a double bed in it.  That way, most of the bugs stay outside.

Hi Tammy, what bugs??  I don't like tent camping anymore because the ground is too hard and I don't have a good mat!  But yes, one can leave their camper there all summer and not have to haul it anywhere.  Ain't that just the cat's pajamas? LOL

Sharon,  you can leave your camper there 5 month's out of the year, but it sounds like you might need a cabin :-)

Hi Suzanne, we used to have a van for camping - that was very comfy, too!  I'll bet you enjoy your parcels "up north" it sounds like a great place to go and escape death valley temperatures :-)

Is that your fish, Mary? Did you catch that? The only thing better than owning your own camping spot at Red Feather Lakes is catching your own fish!!!

Mary, Wow, having your own little slice of heaven!  What a way to live!  I can't think of anything better than a day of camping and fishing (maybe eating the delicious fresh fish afterwards).

Mary - See that fish???  I need you to send a several dozen over to Nimbus Reservoir, in the North East Portion of Greater Sacramento.  Elizabeth Weintraub, and some of my family will be fishing there on July 5th.  Elizabeth has been wanting to fish for awhile now.

Thanks Sharon,  Yes!  Some people camp on their land for several years and then build on it for retirement, too!

Hi Jane, I think there is some British in there somewhere- I like that saying although it sounds painful! LOL

Hi Elizabeth, it's not my fish, my husband caught it, or I should say the fish caught himself when he flung the hook. :-) I love to eat freshly caught trout, I agree that's the best.

Hi Sandy, we used to camp by rivers and catch the best little brookies to cook over the campfire!  That WAS fun!

Hi Myrl, that fishing expedition sounds like an excellent  photo blog coming on July 6th!  I hope you catch several dozen California fish!!  I asked the fish here if they wanted to go ---they said "NO"! I think they heard that you ladies were good at fishing! HAHA!

Hi Mary!  What a great case you have made for buying one's own campsite!  Very, very clever!!!  Is that a brook trout? (about all I know are the rainbows)
