We are now less that 48 hours from potential government shutdown. I probably live in my own little tiny bubble but I am not hearing a lot of talk or panic person to person on this. Certainly the news is giving it coverage and taking about the services we lose if there is a government shutdown.
My thought is that most people probably think the government will get this ironed out in time. It sounds like they have about 2 billion dollars to trim from the budget. Which is a big number when your looking at state services. Reports are saying they are not close to working it out.
One of the services affected is gambling. You won't be able to cash in your winning loto ticket or go to Running Aces or Cantabury Park and bet on the races (and I am assuming played poker there). Some people may say GOOD to no gambling, but remember there are a lot of employees that go out of work if this happens and that is never good.
Its 4th of July Weekend and it sounds like state parks would be shutdown. Think of all the camping trips that get messed up. This may be the one and only time that families plan an extended get a way this summer and it would be a shame to get that messed up.
Also are your tabs about to expire? The DMV will be shut down if the government shuts down in Minnesota. To find out more details on the shut down I would check the news websites. Here is the link to WCCO.
