Harper Faith Browning
I recently found out that a very dear friend (my best friend in high school and one of my bridesmaids) has a new grand baby girl - Harper Faith Browning. An exciting time this should be, except Harper was born with an interrupted aorta, a large hole in her heart, and a valve too small to function. Her doctors have diagnosed it as DiGeorge's syndrome. A rare genetic mishap that effects chromosome 22. It breaks off then randomly effects parts of the body. As you can imagine, her family is devastated.
She has had 3 surgeries to date and will need a major reconstruction of her heart in a few months when she is stronger. Her doctors have been able to slow the flow down to her lungs and have put in stints to keep a vein open but eventually she will need to be converted to a one ventricle heart. Her dad and mom (Luke and Becky) got to hold Harper just the other day for the first time in her short four week life. She is slowly improving, but having setbacks along the way. They have taken her off of ventilation and once they can get her weaned off IV meds and taking in more food, she'll be allowed to go home. Right now she is being tube fed breast milk.
Now mind you, my friend and her husband still live in the same small town where we went to high school. As a family, the Brownings have done many, many wonderful things for the community throughout the years. And now they need us! There is a benefit BBQ being organized for them. If you can't make it but would like to help, please send your donations. If all you can give are your prayers and good thoughts, I'm sure those are greatly appreciated as well.
