I am been fortunate to be with a company whose priority is teaching and maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards. In our world, there is no gray...only because if there is gray, we side on the side of doing what is right...even if that means stepping up financially.
Certainly, as a company, it has paid off. Agents want to works with us because they know it will be a smooth escrow. However, one always wonders if people recognize the efforts that you, as an individual, do. I can now say, unequivocally, yes.
I was asked to run for the Sacramento Association of Realtors Secretary/Treasurer. I entered into this with no small amount of trepidation. After all, I had never really aspired to the position. It is a 5 year commitment ultimately resulting in the Presidency of the association. My husband has held the position and I know the amount of time and effort required.
However, the persons that asked me are people I highly respect. It is an honor to be asked. I figure maybe they know something about me that I didn't really see (other than not being hesitant to offer an opinion). I accepted the nomination.
Then...another agent affiliated with a very large local company decided to challenge my nomination, so he too is running. This is where it gets cool. People who I never knew even took notice stepped up to ask how they can help. The President of a very large national brokerage who everyone would know endorsed my nomination and asked his agents to vote for me...oh, my word!
What I am getting at is, you never know what people will do until something like this comes along. I have always tried to treat everyone fairly and step up when needed. It has now become very apparent to me that I am fortunate to be reaping the seeds I sewed and didn't even know it! I feel so honored and above all else, humbled!
