Should Congress Dissolve itself?

I wonder what percentage of the american populous have a positive view of our congress? It is difficult to trust what they do because they all seem to be engaged in double-talk.

What get's  me is how they all seem to speak synchronously sometimes..."the job-creators," or "millionaires and billionaires."  The american people are no longer being representated.  Sad to say, but let's face it...that's a fact.  With the high court being stacked "Citizen United" basically closed the book on the american people.

Congress has failed itself so many times over.  When it's not gridlock, it's something else.  Let's look at a few...we did not have the money to do it, but we decide three times over the past 10 years that we were getting involved in Wars.  We pushed through and extended tax cut that served no useful purpose but satisfy so-called "base." In 2008, we bailed out all the banks.

Since Congress does not seem willing or able to do right by America, is it time for it to consider dissolving itself?  Is it time to bring in a new set of experiences to pave the way for a "New America?"

Congress is the only part of the government that actually put together some legislation in the last week, 2 bills to attempt to solve the budget crisis and raise the debt ceiling, that is more than what the President and the Senate did, maybe we should just do away with the president and the senate, since the house is the only branch of government who saw fit to do something to help the country move forward!!!

Good Evening C Lloyd, my best guess owuld be 9o% have a negative view of congress.  American will survive and will improve but it is time for a 'New America'.

And the 'New America' will be a vast improvement.

Not willing to throw in the towel but I am will to throw the bums out.  I agree that we over spent but everyone forgets the 3rd war we are in because it was only going to take a few days.  Then the rediculous over spending on all the other stuff.  We are broke STOP SPENDING.

Hi, Lloyd -- happy Sunday morning!!  You are right -- Congressional approval levels are incredibly low.  It is time, in my opinion, to go back to a citizen legislature.  Get rid of professional politicians.  If we had severe term limits -- for example, one 4 year term in the House of Representatives and one 6 year term in the U.S. Senate, then you eliminate the need to run for re-election or to be indebted to special interests.

Have the entire legislature roll-over in the same election year -- so that the House of Representatives would be like a college entering class.  They'd come in on day 1 and be told, "You are only going to be here 4 years.  It will go quickly.  Get something DONE and let that be your legacy."  And maybe we would actually start resolving some of the many issues we face.

C. Lloyd,

Personally I think we the American people should essentially fire all the Congressman and women and all the Senators and elect all new folks. A new group certainly can not do any worst than the current group. I am so tired of the games they are playing and each individual trying to get into the press limelight. What ever happened to the Best for the Country idea?

Good Afternoon Everyone:

Thank you for you excellent comments. Indeed, this country needs to implement some sweeping reforms in government.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a spot on the ballots that stated "NONE OF THE ABOVE"?  Maybe if we left about 1/2 of those seats empty for a few years, it could save us all a great deal of money.  Perhaps the next batch that comes in might realize who they are supposed to work for.
