DEEP ROOTS ARE THE ONES THAT SURVIVE!

Tree Roots

The drought is taking its toll on our lake levels, our yards and our beloved trees here in The Woodlands and most of Texas.  One thing that I have noticed is the the trees such as the pines which have long, deep tap roots are hanging in there while the more shallow, spread out roots of many of the hardwoods are not faring as well.

Doesn't this make a great analogy for us in this business?  Good, consistent and smart marketing, networking and client relationships are the elements of digging deep for the long haul.  It seems that spreading yourself out too much can cause shallow, ineffective results.

With all of the choices of social media, I believe we can get too spread out very quickly.  I have found that by simply choosing what works for me and sticking to it, I am seeing positive results.  There is simply no way for me to keep up with it all without my business suffering.

Choose what you do with your time, your money and your efforts wisely.  Assess changes that may need to be made and do what works for YOU.  Dig your roots down deep and I belive that your stability in this market and beyond will sustain you!  You will also be standing strong and tall while others blow over with the wind.

Love the picture and the post.  This tree will survive I am sure.  Hopefully rain will come soon.

Paula, great post. I agree that making a decision and sticking with it will be what benefits each of us in the long run.

Oh so true and I try to keep up with the marketing but it all adds up pricewise! Everything adds up and is hard to stay on top of in a slow market!

Paula, this is a wonderful analogy. And, yes...the drought is hurting everything and everyone but it won't be soon and it will RAIN! Lots and lots of RAIN...in so many ways. Thank you for the positive post.

Sinking deep roots instead spreading too thinly, is great advice. Not only our social media choices, but what we choose to take on and who we choose as our clients.

Excellent advice, Paula.  Great analogy too.   I think about you folks in Texas.  When I lived in OK we had one really long dry summer and the ground cracked so much that you could stick your arm down in the openings.  It was dry!  Prayers for rain coming your way!!

To take it further.. . .it is where you plant your roots what decides your future. A lot of people chose the comfort level and security of family and friends and they die within a 25 mile radius of the place they are born. . . without experiencing fertile grounds elsewhere.

What a great analogy. There seem to be a few networking sites that have really stood out and a successful newcomer on the block, too.

Lol, great analogy so true.  When the water is plentiful all the trees do well not so much in a drought

Paula,

Very good post and very good analogy. I sometimes find myself dipping my toes here and there in the amalgam of marketing options that are out there. Thanks for the reminder to find something that works and dig in!

My brother, who lives in The Woodlands, just sent me an email, that he has not been able to spned much time on the lake because of the severe draught.

Good analogy for our business.

On the same token, I enjoy cultivating DEEP relationships with a selected few, rather than to be a Hi-Bye magnet friend at a party. I tend to interact better one on one than to sit in a group to chat.

Great analogy.  It surely is easy to spread oneself too thin and probably we are all guilty of it at times.  Thank you for your insight.  I had no idea that Texas was having a drought.  My oldest granddaughter lives and works in the Dallas/Fort Worth/ Arlington area.  I really don't know where, she seems to thrive there.  She is young and a massage therapist and having a great time.
