COLOR CREATES AN ATTITUDE
New beginnings can be very exciting. Gaining inspiration from a garden can help us learn what colors work well together. When there's too much going on, people lose focus and it's easy to get confused. Keep it simple and you'll typically end up with better results.
Do these colors make great curb appeal or would they look good inside? Although there are no right or wrong answers, sometimes it's more difficult for others to accept interior colors that are not customary or appear to be too unusual. What looks good in a garden, may not be as interesting indoors because of the floors, furnishings, appliances and window treatments. Color is a personal choice.
UNIQUENESS
While being unique has its charm, certain colors may not flow with other people's furnishings, decor and style. That's why neutral colors tend to work best for people thinking about putting their homes on the market. When you put your home on the market for sale, you want to invite people inside and have them get excited about possibilities. When people get excited, they are more likely to make an offer quickly and they will typically make an offer closer to asking price. If a buyer is serious about buying and they like what they see, they are less likely to object to the price. A house that is perceived as needing work, will almost always come in at a lower asking price.
Although you can't judge a book by its cover, unfortunately, people do judge a house by its colors. For example, if a Realtor® shows six houses and two of them have the exact same floor plan, most buyers will choose the one that has freshly painted neutral colors over the one that has the same floor plan with different colors in almost every room of the house. Or, if a Realtor shows six houses and all of the houses except one has beautiful curb appeal, the buyer will typically eliminate the one that doesn't have a nicely landscaped garden, even though it may be cheaper.
If you are serious about putting your house on the market and you can't decide on color, contact a Stager or a Home Designer. Your home is the most expensive investment you have. The difference between a well colored coordinated house, clean and ready for sale is worth its weight in gold and can almost always pay off in a shorter time with offers that a Seller is asking. If you need a Stager or Home Designer, your Realtor is the best person to consult with for a referral. Working with local people always works to your advantage because it's not what you know based upon what you see on television, it's who you know who can get you the best prices and help you to move your house based upon what sells best in your area.
