Kweeh  Speechless Sunday 9/4/2011 – Who Took My Clothes?

This photograph was taken from the rookery at Chestnut Creek Community in Venice Florida. My husband Andy and sister-in-law Deb were hired to trim the bushes and grass on the island twice a year. It was an opportunity for me to take some photographs of baby birds and share with my friends at Activerain.  Enjoy!

Kwee:

That poor bird.  It looks lost and confused.  What kind of a bird is it?  I can't tell without feathers.  Cute photo.

Marco & Silvia, it is a baby anhinga. Without the mother standing at a distance, I would not be able to tell also.

Hi Kwee,

This bird is so cute and of course they do not look pretty until they get their feathers. How lucky to get this shot. Were you up on a ladder? It is fantastic and I am sure rare. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Kwee,

That was such a great picture. After reading your post, I did some research on this bird as I had never heard of a anhinga before. It grows up to be a fairly large and beautiful bird. They look funny without their feathers!
