If you will be selling your home in the near future, walk through your yard now and decide if you will be taking any plants or shrubs with you when you move. Plants and shrubs that are planted in the ground should convey with the home. If you remove a plant or shrub from the ground just before 'closing' you could potentially have a problem with the buyer.
Fall is an excellent time to transplant plants or shrubs you will be taking with you. Replant them in pots or planters now, before you place your home 'on the market'.
By transplanting the plants and shrubs into pots and planters now you will avoid any confusion with the buyer of the fact that they are not included in the sale of your home. You will also save your agent from the additional paperwork necessary to disclose that fact.
Transplanting them now will also allow you time to cultivate their transition to a new home. When you home is placed on the market your available time will be greatly reduced, you could over look a plant or shrub until the last minute.
If in doubt, transplant them into containers. If you decide later not to take them you can always present them to a neighbor!
