Want More Exposure on Your Blog Post? Google + is the Answer!

Most of us have been there at one time or another when we threw together a 5 minute post and after only 1 comment, voila, it’s featured. While we are very grateful, we wonder why the AR Gods chose this particular post.

Conversely, some days we work hard on what we think is a really supper post, great content, thus feature worthy only to post it………………… and wait, and wait and wait and while it’s already been reblogged several times, the comments are flooding in with “suggest”, that elusive gold star never appears.

Without a doubt featured posts get more exposure and that's every blogger's goal. You want as many people viewing your business posts, giving you more SEO (Search Engine Optimization) aka Google Juice – the drink that puts your website at the top of page 1 of Google!

(I’m sure others can explain exactly what the benefits of features are like Lenn, much better than me so feel free to write any words of wisdom in the comments!)

The Good news is there is another avenue to garner more exposure for your posts called Google+ (not to be confused with Google+1 where you essentially “like” someone’s post or website.) Google+ is a social network, and I originally thought a waste of time. However, there is a very advantageous benefit to setting up a Google+ account. You can download your AR posts on Google+ giving them more exposure to Active Rain members (who otherwise may not find you amongst its 214,000+ members), friends, family, and anyone else in your circles.

With one click of a button, you can also alert your “friends” with an email that you’ve posted on Active Rain and it also shows up on the Google + main stream. (More on this in a future step-by-step instructions post on how to navigate Google+.)

Since joining Google+ my blog subscribers have increased and my business posts (the only ones I alert AR members with an email) are getting more exposure, comments and reblogs.

To join Google+, you have to have a Google account. You are then able to set up your Google+ account and fill in your profile - takes less than 5 minutes. Google+ gives easy to understand directions on how to navigate their site.

However, I will be writing a follow up post with step by step instructions and you’ll be ready to start blogging your AR posts after a few easy steps.

We all want more blogging exposure and this is a great way to drive more traffic to your AR blog, thus your website.

ok Kristine, you got me. I thought Google plus was a waste of time. But I like so much of their other products (apps is so cool) that I was willing to give it a try. I had no idea of what do with it, until I read your post.

Looking forward to part two.

Hi Kristine,  YES google+ is going to be a really great thing!  I think it is still new and most people are not understanding what it really is.  Give it some time and people will be all over it.

Kristine ~  Great post, Great advice..... The perfect example of me being here was you posting this on Google+ and including me in sharing this post.  I would have missed it if you had not shared on Google+  So anyone reading should take note.... get into Google+... learn about hangouts to share your real estate
"best deals" with people across the globe!  You can create a youtube presentation and share it in the hangout!  Google is the 800 pound gorilla so posting on google DOES make a difference!

Alrighty, then!  One more To Do after all of the great comments. I have a Google account, but don't know diddly about it. Still haven't figured out the Google+1 thing you blogged about oh-so-long ago. I went in the other day, and it's been so long I couldn't remember my password.

Yikes.

Ok, something went wrong...I clicked on your Google Account link and it said the page I requested was invalid.

I have a Google account and went in to look at Google+ but I didn't know where else to go. I filled in  a little about my profile, but couldn't find where to set up the Google+. I will have to wait for your next post, I guess!

Mary - thank you!

Debbie - great idea -done. As you can see it does make a difference because look how many AR members found this post as a direct result of Google1!

Terrie - thank you and any SEO is good SEO! Google1 is so simple - people just don't know how simple!

Eric - It takes 5 minutes to set up an account - so easy and I'm writing a tutorial this week with step by step instructions to make it even easier!

Thanks Richard and  I'll be doing a follow up this week. I really need to start a Twitter account! Next on my list!

Michael - you got it and I'm harnessing all the Google juice I possibly can!

Michele - I love Google to and thanks to AR, it loves me back!

Pam - I'll be writing a tutorial this week with easy instructions - thanks for you kind words!

Joanne - it really is a great way to alert AR members who may not be subscribers to view your post - it works!

Joni - looking forward to you posting on Google1!

Clint - I know it's so easy to click that button and help out your friends. But Google + and Google 1 are different. You can post on Google1 - that how your posts get more exposure!

Tammy - I did it so we will see, however after reading the comments many people found this post b/c of Google1.

DeeDee - you want to use Google 1 - very different than Google + and that's why so many are confused.

lol Eric - it is overwhelming, but with just one click you can post on Google 1 so this one is worth it!

John - you want Google 1 and if you already have an account it will take you 5 minutes to set up and you can start posting!

Janet - I'm going to get it out before the week's end. I just want it to be very clear so I have to sit down myself and do it so there's no confusion.

Sondra - I know and I hear you, but with Google1 all you have to to is paste the url of you post and you're done - it's that  easy!

Mark - glad to help and it Google1, not Google +, two different things.

Maureen - I'll be looking for your posts, but I stop by your blog regardless my friend and of course I subscribed!

Thanks Rebecca and try downloading your posts for more exposure - you'll be surprised at how many new people you meet in the Rain.

It's a great group to learn so much about SEO, Google...all the important things we need to get our name out there. I'll be a regular and can't wait to view older posts and catch up! You are the QUEEN of SEO information!

Rebekah - thank you and I just love my Lucy as you can see! Just a head's up - Google1 is where you post your blogs - Google+ is where you "like" someones post/website.

Debb - you and many others - look for a tutorial in the next couple of days - I'll explain it in simple terms - they way I need to learn!

Craig - Yay - see it works. Thanks Craig you're helping me prove my  point!

Laura - you are on top of your game Laura and you already know - it works!

Scott - so did I until I understood the difference between Google+ and Google1 which is where you can download your AR posts and alert others. Many new AR members have found me as a direct result of Google 1 - it works!

Amy - like everything else, it takes time to catch on, but this is worthy of our time for the blog exposure alone!

Ginny - you should really put your posts up and alert people. You'll get even more blog exposure.

Larry and Sheila - it's coming in the next few days - I just have to get my act together - lol.

Tammy - thank you so much - I'm honored to be featured in your wonderful group: Google's+1 Group!

Carra - yay! See it really works and thanks for stopping by and commenting!

Greg - so cool and thanks for proving my point!

Jim & Linda - most people are confused, but Google1 is where you download your AR posts for more exposure and like you point out, we can all use more Google Juice!

Lynn - so true and worth the time!

Fred - I'm on it right after I finish commenting and thank you!

Gayle - I'l check the link and fix it (thanks) and am posting a tutorial in the next couple of days. If you have any questions call or email me!

Dagny - thanks and download the posts that you really want exposure on - it works. I did use the short URL so we will see!

Michael - I didn't know that - this is the first I'm hearing about it. However, I will check it out and see what's up. I can't imagine Google+ is full, but I look into it and get back to you. Give me a day or two - I'm really busy with work (not that I'm complaining!)
