Inspiration with Perspiration

By

On a recent visit to Lake Tahoe we took a long hike by Emerald Bay on one of the more popular hiking trails in the Lake Tahoe area (at least according to the guide books). More on that later.

It was a moderate hike, and fairly warm, so the hike up hill to Eagle Lake (a vertical rise of about 1000 feet) generated some perspiration. But the views were spectacular of the mountains, Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay, pine trees and the falls, and more than worth the physical effort.

Taking along a camera, for me, always generates inspiration for enjoying nature and capturing views I might not have even thought about had I not had a camera - the beach, sunsets, intriguing architecture and plants are some of this things that seem to inspire photos for me.

A camera encourages me to take a moment and pay more attention to my surroundings rather than having them simply pass by, whether I am in the city, at the beach, or in the mountains or simply out taking real estate photos.

Perhaps that's true for you as well.

And often those precious photos become a source of inspiration for an article or two.

Lake Tahoe tree

This tree, about midway up the mountain, was quite striking in the colors and shape against the deep blue sky - it simply begged to be photographed, which thankfully turned out rather well. And do you see the glimpse of the partial moon off to the right of that large branch?  Purely accidental.

Taking the time to truly enjoy nature is one of the great pleasures of taking time off, getting away, and it simply does not happen often enough.

What inspires YOUR photography?

Jeff,

Nice picture and good for you for getting out to enjoy nature.

Although I live in Mammoth, I go to Tahoe on occasion to climb, backcountry ski, hike, trail run-you name it.

The area is extraordinary and I ALWAYS find something new and interesting to look at and enjoy.

Thanks for sharing the picture!

Jeff,

Tahoe is pretty incredible, and this picture is no exception. It looks like something out of a movie. Maybe those walking trees from Lord Of The Rings. Wow.

Interesting tree, Jeff.  I think this blogging makes me think more about taking pictures which in turn makes me notice more little details that I always ran past.  slowing down and smelling the nature is a good thing!

Hi Jeff, quite a nice photo and certainly you are right about not enough time off. LT is one of favorite places and I just can't be there often enough. Never been in the winter months but I bet it would be great fun.

Jeff that is a beautiful shot.  I tend to forget my camera.  I need to follow your example in that area a lot more closely :)

Thanks for stopping by. It is a beautiful area with lots to explore. I'm not a big winter fan so my travels will be there for the other seasons. LOL

Scott - you're right! It was a great tree to see, and so many others that were cool in their own way. I'm working on the hiking slide show.

Hi Jeff, there is something to be said for getting away for an afternoon with camera in hand and nature all around. It is not only soothing to the soul but the senses as well and with camera in hand it all comes together as your photo proves.

Jeff,

We visited "Viking's Holm" at Emerald Bay years ago. I so admired the history of the home's construction and Emerald Bay is... a real jewel.

I also get inspired by the beauty of nature. Of course, the antics of kids and animals (especially my miniature Dachshund, Muffin) make me laugh. There's no such thing as too many photos of them! How did we live without digital photography and the ability to instantly share what we see with others??
