The public library in Lovettsville, Virginia - wonderful service and a life saver when your Internet service is down.

The public library in Lovettsville is offered by the Loudoun County county government and serves the public in many ways. Some of which are:

Meeting Rooms - seat 35 with audio-visual equipment available. Books

Computers - 5-6 stations with Internet connection - available to members 1 hour at a time. I've never had to wait although I have used the Internet service only during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to about 5:00 p.m.

Hours:

Monday through Thursday - 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS - Stacks and stacks of books - 9 stacks of books and videos for adults and children, always children enjoying the activities offered.

Meeting Rooms

Meeting rooms are available for public use. Call the branch to verify availability and request a sign-up form; or the form can bedownloaded here. Completed, signed forms may be faxed (540-822-5998) or brought in person to the library. A variety of assistive listening devices and audio-visual equipment is available in each meeting room.

The Meeting Room seats 35.
A Small Study Room is available on a first come, first served basis.

Meeting room use is free to clubs and non-profit organizations. A fee is charged for use by for-profit organizations. See Library Meeting Room Use Policy for more information.

Personal Computers

The Library provides access to personal computers for use by the public. Use of the computers is free, with a charge of 10 cents per page for printing. The library provides free Wi-Fi service for those who bring their own laptops equipped with wireless capability into the branch. The library also has a typewriter available for public use.

Personal computers with Internet access and print capability are available on a first come, first served basis, one hour at a time.
Personal computers with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and print capability are available for one hours at a time.
There is one computer with educational games for children ages 2-8, available for 30 minutes at a time

Hi Folks.

This is a post entered to maintain my eligibility for the current 30 in 30 program.

Of one thing we can be sure. If Lenn is entered in any type of program on ActiveRain requiring posts by or on a date certain, THE COMPUTER OR THE INTERNET CONNECTION WILL BE OUT OF SERVICE.

This is short and sweet because I can't upload images (map), etc. However, when my Internet connection is fixed (promised for 36 hours by Verizon now, I'll come back and add some color - photos, map, etc.

Now I'm going to check my e-mail and head home to wait for Verizon.

LOL Lenn-You poor thing. Your internet does seem to go kaput when you are entered into a contest! Great recovery and great blog on your local public Library in Lovettsvile Virgina! Libraries are indeed great places to go for internet and books and stuff :)!

Having a backup plan is always good, especially when Murphy's Law is inevitably affecting the outcome. I never think about investigating the library's resources for such anamolies. Now I will.

Thanks Folks.

My Internet is back up. That said, I have NO CONFIDENCE in VERIZON high-speed connection. The absolute worse part is when connected to TECHNICAL SUPPORT, the person SPEAKS NO ENGLISH!!!!

You try and try to explain. They are speaking phonetically from a script and neither party can understand the other.

Brenda. This is the third time now. Thanks goodness for the library.

Linda. I suspect that the Ashburn library offers even more than Lovettsville, but I'm happy with the Internet.

Pam. CAN'T STOP NOW is a fact.

Kevin. Visit them and put the info in your memory banks. They can be a life saver.

Anne. Indeed. I remember when the library services in P.G. County were cut back dramatically and branches closed, etc. Sad, sad, sad. I'm not at all in favor of big government, but if anything is going to be offered, the public library should be funded.

Marc. HA! My discust for Verizon in this matter is impossible to describe in polite company. ((^%$*(()

The final insult was connecting me to someone in "TECHNICAL SUPPORT" whose English was so poor that I left the conversation with absolutely no idea if the support call had even been registered.

I ordered a satelite connection which is going to be installed Tuesday.
