Today's focus, Step 1;
The background, Part 1, Just Color Page Backgrounds!
A simple tutorial to follow for your Active Rain blog background;
1. Are you on your home page? Of course not, you are looking at my really cool tutorial on how to customize YOUR blog page. Once you are done oogling at my talent,.... yep take your time! Oh,....................................................All right that's enough!
2. Look on the left hand column where it says Blogs Active Rain (Customize). Yep, that is the spot! Okay click on (Customize).
Go ahead and print this out, I'll wait (clearly I am a very patient person)!
Let's Get Started!
Before you get too carried away, you should know what the PARTS of a blog post is. Let's start with the bare bones basic Active Rain Default design;
Is there anything wrong with this? NOPE! Kristin Johnston is a Realtor of the highest quality! Someone I have a great deal of respect and admiration for and she dominates the first page of Google in Waukesha County, WI!
So, if that's your style Great. We are all done here!
However, IF you WANT to personalize your post (for the many psychological/ marketing research or personal reasons) here we go;
Once you click on Blogs, Active Rain (custom) this is the page you will see (minus all the pictures, red arrows and red comment boxes);
First things first!
Make a choice, decorated background or plain color background? There advantages and disadvantages to both. There is just a few basic steps to follow.
Today's tutorial is all about
Step 1; The background, Part 1, Just Color Page Backgrounds!
Solid Color Advantage;
- Solid color puts all the focus on the content of your blog post itself. No distractions, nothing else to focus on, just content!
Solid Color Disadvantages;
- Just like picking a color for your home, color, tone, & shade matter! If you choose a solid color, choose carefully! Too bright - too harsh! Think soft and soothing or rich and earthtone.
- Solid color can lack personality.
If you choose "JUST SOLID COLOR"
skip the custom page background box and
<---------------------- simply look for the color box
on the bottom of the page & select colors as follows;
1. Click on the square color box next to "Menu Background".
2. When the color box pops up slide the bar to the color zone you like.
3. Use the circle to move around your color choice to get the tint, shade or tone you love.
4. I write down the color number I choose so I can use it in other parts of my blog and have an expact match.
5. Got the color you want? Click okay!
(Repeat with Menu Background, Header Background, but PLEASE what ever you do pick a different color for the Menu TEXT.)
6. Be sure to click "Save Changes"!
7. Go to your home page and click on "My Blogs". Happy keep it, not try it again until you are completely satisfied!
