A Few of My Favorite Things... Have you ever quietly pondered the things that give you great pleasure? It's something I think about almost daily. Having grown up with literally nothing, I learned at a very young age not to attach a lot of emotion to things. Thank goodness too, because there were a few times in my life where I lost almost everything. I felt a bit of resilency when the poop hit the fan, mostly because I knew if I came out of the situation with my life, health and family, I could get through anything.
The flip side to that is... I've learned to appreciate the little things so much more. I eat, sleep and breathe the simple things today... I suppose that's a big reason why I don't get too upset when life deals some heavy blows... my mind always reverts back to that of a child and I think about the words to a song Julie Andrews sang in the Sound of Music, 'I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad.'

A cup of coffee (sunshine), whip cream, hugs, music, hot showers, smiles, laughter, sunglasses, blue jeans, T-shirts, flip flops, children playing, lipstick and chocolate. I also love blue skies with white patchy clouds, mountains, trees, fall leaves, wildflowers, cold mornings, the sound of water splashing over rocks, the ocean breeze and beautiful sunsets. Oh yeah... and I can't forget my pillow and of course... buttermilk pancakes with grape jelly!
