I hate polls. Okay, hate is a strong term. "Dislike" is probably more appropriate and accurate. One of the reasons I dislike polls is not only because I've rarely been asked to participate in them without having a chance to win an IPhone and the opportunity to read 50 emails in the morning from everyone I don't care to hear from, but because they can be so skewed. Depending upon your ideology and the way the questions are put, the creator of said poll can pretty much display the results however it meets their particular creed. For example, take our President's approval numbers. They aren't exactly something to write home to whatever country he was born in, but they are God compared to what folks think of Congress. Folks that dislike Obama concentrate on his numbers in a cumbersome time. Folks who tend to like Obama..., well, they're not using toilet paper and generally growing their hair long. Those damn hippies are at it again. A-hem! Like the Tea Party with Spending and The Bailout, which they are protesting, a little late but alright.
I also dislike spam. While it is wonderful to receive twenty emails about how I can get rich quick, make my penis larger, and lose weight by eating more ... I'll just continue to work hard & smart, bow to heredity on the penis thing, and make scenes from Rocky IV a reality in my daily life.
An email was deleted by me earlier because it was spam. Heck, it may be one of those chain emails that has no validity at all ... but the idea(s) are pretty good. I dare anybody from the right, left, human, or alien race to say otherwise ... but THESE are some pretty good ideas:
Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen.
Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!
What say you?
