2011 World Series (Bonding with my son)

As I write this between innings of the 4th game of the World Series 2011, I realize how nice it is to have something to bond over with my son. If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m a big baseball fan. It is a team sport that unlike any other sport if you aren’t playing together as a team, you just can’t win.

So, here I am cheering on the Cardinals with my son, though they are losing at this point, together we know they can come back and win. They do have the hitting in them as they proved last night with their big win over Texas.

Sometimes when boys reach a certain age, talking to dad just isn’t as cool as it used to be and it seems ten was that age for my son. But, the last 5 days we have been as close as ever and doing a lot of talking about baseball and his Cardinals.

I love this time with my son and wish it didn’t have to end. So, I will continue to enjoy the game I love and continue to enjoy the time with my son.

Go Cardinals!

No matter what the age, boys/men and their fathers can bond through sports.

Todd, sports area great opportunity to bond with kids.  I am rooting for the Rangers, they haven't won one yet.

Glad you can bond with your son. I just wish it were cheering the Phillies on. I am a sore loser this year! Sorry.

Todd, I guess it's just natural for a boy to need to find his own way for a few years, but then he'll recognize you were cool all along. I think with my son I was not cool from about when he was 12 to 25. If your son is wiser than mine, it will not take him 13-years to see the light. We liked the Cards too.

Todd -

I give you 5 stars on Dadhood!  Keep on enjoying your son.  Even when he acts like he may be too big for his Dad's attention... he's not.

Best regards from the Q

Todd, it is so wonderful when you have that bonding that goes on and on...coolness comes and goes with kids until they are in their early 20s and all of a sudden Dad is discovered again...lol
