An Attitude of Gratitude - Hats off to our Teachers - With Natalie as a Prime Example!
When I saw that ActiveRain is running a contest on gratitude, my thoughts immediately went to our teachers.
Here in Florida, teachers have a governor who seems NOT to care about education! He has cut their pay and added to their burdens.
My Best Friend, Natalie, is an art teacher here in Pinellas County and prime example of an excellent teacher who gives SO MUCH! (By the way, Natalie is the owner of that photo. I did not take it).
Natalie has been teaching here in Pinellas County for over twenty years and used to have the classroom right next to mine back in the days when I was a classroom teacher. I know for a fact that she spends hundreds of dollars of her own money to supply her students with all of the materials they need for her high school art classes.
That is typical of so many teachers I know. They take out of their own pockets to make sure that their classes have the needed supplies.
When the government decided that supplying the students with breakfast was costing too much money, so many teachers started bringing in breakfast one day a week for their homeroom students! I know of dozens of cases like that!
People become teachers because they care about students! They care about the future of our nation. An uneducated population is not a pretty picture and our students are the future of this nation!
So at this time of year, while teachers are deciding which families to adopt for the various holidays, we need to stop and thank the teachers for all they do!
Thank you, Natalie, for being a wonderful, caring person. Thank you for giving SO MUCH on a daily basis for your students. Thank you to all of our teachers! You who are so often NOT recognized need to know that you ARE appreciated!
