Right on the corner of Washington Ave and 12th St, The Rose features Live National Acts and Local music from most genres 3 nights/ week on our large indoor stage and the BEST patio with live music everyday all summer long! Originally built in 1858 as a grocery store with the first public hall upstairs, this building is a living history of Golden. Their website states "Some famous guests included President Ulysses S. Grant, Horace Greeley, and General Phillip Sheridan. As the years past by shadier guests caused trouble and shoot-outs. The first shootout took place in 1860 and it has been said that the ghosts of some of these men are still around.In 1917, when Coloradoans voted for Prohibition the restaurant continued to stay open by selling soft drinks and continued with liquor when Prohibition was appealed. Now the building has been remodeled and ready to continue the legacy of a Colorado Landmark." If you are hungry, join The Rose for excellent lunch and dinner specials and three full bars with nightly drink specials. The locals walk or bike there, but there is plenty of parking for your car, or motorcycle, in the area too!
