Isn’t it odd how blog posts take on a life of their own? You start out thinking the story will go one way and halfway through the preparation you have an entirely new story.
My plan was to do a localism post and introduce Mountain Breeze Café in Dillsboro. Well, I guess I just did that! We’re lucky to have this amazing café so close to our office. They have a “build your own” sandwich feature that allows you to eat there everyday if you wanted to and never, ever get bored. It’s sort of like peering into your refrigerator and discovering the fairy foodmother has blessed the icebox with actually useful ingredients.
My lunch (Ellyn’s Veggie) yesterday is advertised as “one of Ellyn’s favorites”, Ellyn being a favorite past employee at the café. The suggestion is to add feta and veggies of your choice. The end result for me was spinach, tomato, red onion, mushrooms, cucumbers, provolone and feta all grilled on wonderful sourdough bread. It actually doesn’t sound like a bad idea for today too.
So, I thought wouldn’t it be cool to not only have a photo of the sandwich but to also visit YouTube and see if there are any interesting sandwich songs. I got the song idea from Sheila Newton who posted a song video to an AR group called Musical Mondays. I didn’t even know there was a group called Musical Mondays and because I read/listened to her post pretty late last night I didn’t get a chance to do a Musical Monday post. Maybe this can be a Tuesday Tune post? I digress.
Anyway, up pops several videos with Fred Penner singing the Sandwich Song. I didn’t even know there was something called the Sandwich Song. But all kinds of people have posted this, including a 3rd grade class who was adorable but their sound quality not so great. So, have a listen and seriously, if you aren’t grinning and humming by the time the video is done…go back to bed, you obviously have your grump on today and you need more sleep so you can try again tomorrow. Ohhhhhhhhhh, Sandwiches are Beautiful, Sandwiches are Fine…..la la la la
