My First Red Tailed Hawk

I was so excited yesterday as I noticed this huge hawk sitting on my back fence. I went to get my camera but he spotted something to eat in the neighbor’s yard and he was gone in a flash! I went out front and there he was just sitting in my tree....waiting for me to take his picture!

He let me take about 10 photos and then flew off…..never to be seen again.

He was sitting so still for me. I also took his picture with my new camera but have to wait for that picture as I haven't downloaded the software yet!

I was so excited. I wish I had gotten the fence picture though; it was so perfect. I am keeping my eye out for him to come back to that spot. Since he was sucessful in getting some little rodent in the neighbor's yard, he might come back to try again.

Hi Patty,

I think he was just hungry and looking for something to eat...some little rodent running around but I don't think too much is out in the day time. He was so pretty but it was at 4:00 p.m. so I got some shadowing in my picture. I wish it had been earlier in the day. I am hoping he will return to the back fence soon. I will be ready next time.
