It Ain't EZ 2 Venture Out Of The Rain!

I am conducting a company wide training.  After reviewing my presence a few weeks ago, I realized it was time to update everything.  It's been a very long few weeks.  I've come to accept it will always be a work in progress.

Being on the rain I made some pretty good friends to me it's been extraordinary.  I know people throughout the entire United States.  To me that is just truly truly amazing and all it took was sitting on the computer and being social...social networking.

Activerain has been good to me, a new listing and another seller referral all in a matter of 3 weeks.

Getting my Internet presence up to par I decided to really venture out of the rain. I started revamping profiles and joining new platforms. Fresh content on all of them.  It ain't ez venturing out of the rain.

Heck I entered the ProBlogger, and amazingly enough I am in the top 100.. Guess who is there with me?  My brother Albert..and boy is he dawging me.

Up until a few days ago, I used to copy and paste the same content on every one of my sites.  Fresh content,  Shorter posts, different topics.  An experiment.

Trying to build relationships with over 1,173,109,925 Internet users...it ain't like Activerain....It's A Big World..It sometimes it gets very chilly.  I decided to get out of my comfort zone, like prospecting... make the decision and then just do it .. the better you become... you'll probably do more....the end result... bigger rewards. Making new relationships...

Just as I struggled to put my big toe in the rain I felt the same pain trying to venture out.  Then I decided let's do it, I commented on a few consumer posts.   I began reading some incredible blogs and learning once again.

So for you newbie's lurking out on the sidelines...here is some advice that might save you some pain.

  • Write shorter posts in the beginning.
  • Make sure and use the draft mode.
  • Get Firefox in case browser shuts down, restart the brower.. With Firefox your option..restore session..
  • Subscribe to a few bloggers, a few you enjoy...read...learn and study!
  • To chicken to comment?  Practice commenting on members only post..I remember.....(I bet after your first comment you'll be hooked).
  • Play with all the buttons on the platform, understand each of the functions.
  • Play with the placement of pictures, if you don't read anything else, make sure and read the picture placement. Again do it in draft mode!
  • Last but not least if you get a phone call or an e-mail from someone who wants to pay it forward.  Accept it...make time for it.   Please take it as a compliment...
  • Yes you should read the Community guidelines but hey I am a trainer, and sorry, hate to say it, I know some of you won't read the guidelines.

The time is now....What are you waiting for? No more pat's on the back, no more it's OK, those relationships are within reach.   Let your personality shine through...now come on!...write....Let's Get This Party Started!  G o for it....

It is definitely a good idea to venture out of the rain and into other areas. It can be difficult to get out of the comfort zone sometimes, it is just so easy to stay within it! I have been trying to do a better job of exploring though.

My testimonial on why Midori is great......

Midori actually called me on the phone a couple of times, and she doesn't know me at all.  I would talk to her every day, if I could!

Trust me, being open to learning is so important in this Web2.0 era, if someone is willing to help, SAY YES!!

Hi Midori... just a bit of quick feedback. You're so right about the power of commenting, it's probably the fastest way to get known in any community, either here on AR or out there on the web.

Also reading the community guidelines is a must. One of the reasons some people never get noticed or featured is becuase they continue to post stuff that is way off topic to the groups they are posting to.

Amen, we can get really spoiled in the hyper friendly world of Active Rain - you just have to work a little harder at it in the other world.  I'd much rather solicialize on the web than go make cold calls, lol!  Congratulations on your huge steps on other platforms and your tips here are fabulous.
