I have learned an amazing amount about Search Engine Optimization since joining Active Rain. One of the main things I have learned is using the most important keywords you want to emphasize in your title and then repeat those words several times in the post. Learning not to overuse these words is also
important.
I know having a post of more than 200 words helps Google know you are creating quality content. I have not emphasized this as much as I probably need to, but it is the back of my mind. Having the opportunity to read the blogposts of some very gifted writers on Active Rain spurs my imagination. I also learn more about Search Engine Optimization through this process.
Entitling the pictures and graphics I use in my posts can also enhance my Seach Engine Optimization. Pictures also add to the attractiveness of my site. I can do more to improve my posts with better pictures and graphics, but there is only so much one can learn. It takes time to drink of the water of learning available here on Active Rain.
Learning to blog about local events and creating market reports around communities is an important part of my SEO strategy. One of my first learnings regarding this was when we experienced severe flooding in the Lancaster area in 2011. I wrote a simple post about the flooding and saw it jump to page of Google in hardly any time. I also posted regarding Lady Gaga being in Lancaster and the buzz it was creating. College friends were amazed to find my post when they did their own searches regarding Lady Gaga in the Lancaster area.My main priority for blogging is to generate business by being found on the internet. Search Engine Optimization is an important piece of that strategy. I admit I am a novice at this, but keep learning and improving in this factor. I keep learning important things to improve my blogging and my Search Engine Optimization here on Active Rain. This definitely keeps me plugging away.
