When Was The Last Time It Snowed In Tucson? TODAY!

By

Happy Birthday Tucson – you turned 100 today – and Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

To mark this special day – Tucson with it’s (at times) unpredictable weather – decided that snow would be a fitting way to mark the day!  And so it did – snow in Tucson TODAY!

The snow did not stick to the ground for long and the clouds are still covering the mountains –

but when it clears – this is what they will look like (a photo taken by Mike Jones!)

So we’ve gone from 80 degrees and shorts a few days ago – to 35 for a low and 55 for a high TODAY!

The last time the Tucson valley had a snow day – and the kids were out of school – January 2007.  Then last year, Tucson valley got snow that stuck around for a little while was February of 2011!  The mountains, however, will be blanketed with snow and I suspect lots of folks will head up to Mt Lemmon for skiing, sledding and some last minute cool winter fun!

Gabrielle - Great, local post.  Loved the photographs.  It's amazing when the unlikely happens, like snow in Tucson!

Gab,

It's certainly an odd Winter when Arizona has as much snow as Maryland. Happy Valentine's Day.

Now that is one nice photo.  One can just imagine the covering and change in temperature as they go higher.  Thanks but I'll stay down where it's a little warmer
