LaTroy Hawkins – Let Metro Detroit be your next home

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty - Lakeside Market Center

I’ve been reading of the Detroit Tigers interest in free agent pitcher
LaTroy Hawkins
and hope that the Tigers organization and Mr. Hawkins
and his agent can come to an agreement to bring him to Detroit.

Perhaps if Mr. Hawkins knew more about Metro Detroit and Tigers fans
it would help sway him in his decision about where to play next season.

Mr. Hawkins, first, I would like you to pick up the phone and call others who play
for the Tigers, and those who have played here in the past.  Ask them about Tigers fans.

Hands down we’re the best in the world.  We know baseball, we love baseball,
and we support the Tigers through the good years and the not-so-good ones alike.

I wish I could find a picture of the fan who held up a “Not in our house” sign
during the game in 2003 that would have decided whether the Tigers broke the
record for most losses in a single season.   That one sign and one fan spoke clearly for all of us.

I noticed that quite a few players saw that sign and that fan.  I’d like to think that the 10th man
on the field that day helped to win that game.  See how we help each other?

Metro Detroiters are a good decent hard working group of people.  We’re blue collar
and white collar and all the collars in between.  We punch a time clock, we feed our
families, we give back to our community even when there isn’t much to give back.
We stick together and we’re honest with each other and with ourselves.  We’re
not pretentious.

We’ll also give you your privacy.  It’s rare here in Metro Detroit for athletes to find
themselves in the headlines for personal reasons because we give you your space to
have a private life.  No swarming paparazzi here.  Metro Detroiters won’t allow that
to happen to you.  You’d find a shield around you, allowing you to have your dinner
with your family in peace.  Sure we may ask for an autograph, but it won’t be while
you’re having dinner or watching a concert or shopping in one of our fabulous malls
or mom & pop stores.

Metro Detroiters have taken a few punches to the gut in the last couple of years.
People have lost their jobs, foreclosure rates are high, yet we trudge on believing
in our community and each other.  We’ll pull out of this together as we always have.
During these times of struggle we have our sports teams and we love them.

There is a love affair with the Detroit Tigers that never ceases.  Ask around. Come
visit us.  You’ll find out the truth.

Mr. Hawkins, I would love to see you in the bullpen this spring as I'm sure others would .

I do recall reading about an agent that put up a billboard with a kudos to the local team and star player.  Great press.  Wouldn't it be great if Kris saved the day?

Linda:  "Fan" isn't something my hubby uses...fanatic is more like it :-)

Chris:  Kudos to that agent!

Well, how could he not after reading THIS??  (Surely he or his agent have some Google Alerts set up for just this sort of thing.)

Sarah:  Huh...I never even thought that athletes would have Google Alerts set up.  I guess it would make sense, from a PR standpoint.

Lola:  We are :-)  We're the best in the country.

Elizabeth:  You're fun :-)

Gary:  Even if you're not a baseball fan, I'm still a fan of yours!
