Oh My...sometimes life's lessons come in little ways, others in big - and still others in rock star moments when you realize there are messages that need to be shared, need to be expressed - especially during the trying times we all find ourselves in.
I went to a Keith Urban concert last night with my daughters. While my musical tastes run the gamut - Keith is a rock star/cowboy and yeah...amazing. Truly, I have a 13 year old who is an alternative rock kind of chick - and she was impressed. When you can impress a 13 year old, you know you are in the right arena (most of the time.) I also have a 15 year old and a 7 year old - all of whom were impressed first with the way the man handled the PEOPLE that he was trying to touch, thank, and value.
There is an essence in the performer that we saw in Keith Urban which translates to all that we do...are you ready? Not tough stuff here -- in fact has been around the sales industry for a million (well - almost) years. See The People. Flash on the STP oil can -- old school marketing 101.
In an age of diva-esqe stars - even for boys in the band - Keith stayed long after the last encore, lights were up, people were leaving shaking hands, signing autographs and appreciating the audience. Here, of course, is someone who has done some serious soul searching of late, and to his credit -- and to all of our benefit -- realized that EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY SOMETIME.
Ahhhhh...lyrics, right? With words like, "Don't have to find your own way, you have a voice - let it be heard or when you find yourself on a dead end road there is always somewhere to turn...." What do you think? Have you tried to do it all yourself and landed flat? Have you set out on the mission of total independence only to realize that a mentor/protégé, friend and family might be a valuable addition to your life? We are salespeople. Which means that there is an edge to us too...maybe not serious rock star status - but most definitely cut from a different cloth as those of us born before the 60s might say.
So, loved the concert - loved the message - loved the time with my girls rocking out to incredible music with all the right things to say - and loved the fact that a superstar was right there hanging with his fans - one-on-one as much as possible giving the best that he had and given the smile on his face, loving every minute of it - does life get better than that? I love what I do - as should we all - don't you think? Granted, there are tough times for some - but if we are looking at the whole of it - helping people, being a resource, passionately sharing who we are and what we do and looking out for those we care about including those VIPs in our BusinessBASETM - then we have the opportunity to live fully and fully grasp that Everybody, Needs Somebody....Sometime. So thank you - for all the "somebodies" in my life and in the lives of those of us at ProspectsPLUS! -- You Rock!
