I was so excited to see the red bud! Loving Spring!

Geraniums were my mother’s favorite flowers.  And, one of my favorite’s as well.  Did you know that geraniums unlike many annual flowers have the ability to survive for most of the winter.  If properly stored, they can resist extended dry periods due to their thick, succulent-like stems.

Well every fall, I take my geraniums indoors and keep them in the garage.  They actually do quite well in the garage, and a couple of times during then winter, I water them just a bit and remove any dead stems from the pots.

I have five geranium pots that we have kept in the garage this winter.  Since the beginning of March, my husband has put them outside during the day to enjoy the beautiful sunshine.  They seem to be very healthy!  At night, we bring them indoors for fear of frost.  Hopefully in April we can leave them outside and enjoy their colorful blooms all summer.

After being indoors all winter, the geraniums seem to be doing great.  I was so excited when I came home from church today.  I found a red bud on one of the geraniums!

I love Spring, watching the new growth of plants, the grass getting green, and the trees come alive with their new leaves...just amazing!

Howdy and evening Rebecca

Rebecca my friend
, your Geraniums sure are coming along mighty well, they sure do look mighty nice.

We always add them in our flower gardens, using different Geraniums sure do add such mighty fine color to the lower part of a garden area. We don't have anything starting to bloom yet, which actually is a good thing, seeing this area can actual get a bit of snow fall even in April. When it does, folks here call it, the poor mans furtilizer.

Have a good one

Rebecca- I think we get a little spoiled living in Florida because of our year 'round good weather but I do remember living in northern VA.  My husband loves geraniums as well and we always had them on the deck.  Love seeing that little bud.

Rebecca - I love geraniums too. We lived in McDonough GA for a while which is also known as the Geranium capital of the US. I have some that a customer cut and gave me about 15 years ago. I take cuttings wherever I move to. I feel like Johnny Geranium seed except I use cuttings. I just cut the stem and stick them in the ground.
