How to Spend Two Delightful Days in Sacramento

By
Real Estate Agent

It is no secret that Sacramento has a significant number of destinations within a short distance of each other.  In fact most folks given just a day or so to enjoy our city, can experience a great deal.

Within a mere 1.5 mile radius of California’s State Capitol Building; or 3 miles from Tower Bridge on the west, to Sutter's Fort to the east, there is (1) Capital Park (2) Old Sacramento (3) Tower Bridge (4) RiverWalk (5) California State Railroad Museum (6) Crocker Art Gallery (5) Sutter’s Fort (7) California State Indian Museum.  There are other places of interest as well, but these are destinations most popular within that radius.

Hi Myrl,

Great pictures and looks like a lot of fun to go and learn about our history. I especially like the picture of the capitol building with the beatiful pink roses.

thanks for the local post Myrl. There is so much history in the downtown area, many locals have not been to many of these places.

Laura - A visit to those places would be great on any list:-)

Jon - I'm glad you liked it!  If you haven't been to California before, you really should try a visit!

Michelle - I sometimes get accused of leaving Sacramento to visit wonderful places within 100 miles of our city.  There's Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Napa Wine Country, and California Gold Country, just to name a few.  I wanted to demonstrate that there are many things to see, all packed in the downtown area of Sacramento.

Shirley - I'm glad you enjoy them!  I hope you are having a GREAT week!

Gary - Now that would be REALLY fun!

Karen - I must admit that I had never been to the railroad museum until a couple of years ago.  When I finally did visit, I was blown away.  It was far larger and grander than I had imagined!

Inna - If you can, visit Sacramento over Labor Day Weekend!  One of my favorite things to do at that time is visit Old Sacramento, which celebrates Gold Rush Days.  It's like stepping back in time!

Kristin - The pink flowers are actually camellias.  Sacramento is know as the Camellia City, and the City of Trees!

JIm - You can really pack a lot of adventure in, within a small distance.

Tom - I have pretty much lived in the Greater Sacramento Region all my life.  Yet, I hadn't been to the railroad museum until a couple years ago.  I also think when we begin to really work with cameras, we notice things that we had missed in the past.  Our eye engages life more!

I have been to all of those places, Myrl. But then, you can walk to them from my house in Land Park. That's one of the nice things about living close to downtown and Midtown Sacramento. We should go to lunch again soon. Somewhere around here this time, OK? Pick somewhere low calorie, hahahaha.

Hey Elizabeth - You may have lost me when you said, "low calorie."  I understand Biba's is close to your office, and I just bought a Groupon for $40.00 worth of food for $20.00.  I think it would be great, and you could just pay the tip:-)

Biba's has wonderful Italian food, but I wouldn't exactly describe it as "low calorie."  The Groupon is valid for lunch on Tuesday - Friday.

Myrl,

What a wonderful tour of the city...We love Biba's and I am glad you got a groupon for it.  They handmake their gnocchi daily.  When we lived in Napa, we would fly out of SAC (best airport) and time it with lunch or dinner at Biba's.  She was friends with Leo Buscalia and they id a book together which they kindly signed for me. Roy - Sacramento has evolved with many changes over the years.  I can remember driving over the Tower Bridge as a kid, and not seeing too much of the landscape, other than the Capitol Building about 12 blocks away!

Alexandra - I remember Biba with Leo Buscalia.  I have followed her for decades!  Your adventures of flying in for lunch or dinner sound wonderful!
