Rejuvenate Your Blogging Strategy!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with RealSupport Inc.

As a blogger, I find it’s always good to be reminded of the reason behind blogging for real estate agents and theimportance of a good blogging strategy.  If you’ve entered the blogging realm, chances are you’ve found a good rhythm of blogging that works for you.  Or maybe you’ve realized that blogging is not your forte and, because of the weekly battle of blogging, you’ve let it go to the wayside.

No matter what your relationship is with your real estate blog; I thought I’d give a quick pep talk that will hopefully rejuvenate your blogging this spring and carry you through the rest of the year!

I ran across an article the other day that highlighted how law firms have been blogging for the majority of the last decade and place a high trust in blogs.  A study by Greentarget showed that lawyers read more attorney or firm blogs than a blog written by a journalist.  In fact, the study pointed out that over half of the respondents felt that a prominent blog was they key for someone choosing one law firm over another.  The high placement on blogging is pushing more lawyers and firms to blog more often.  It seems like they’re really on to something!

So, how can you capitalize on your real estate blog?  Kevin O’Keefe, CEO and publisher of LexBlog, pointed out six key ways law firms can strategize to create a top blog, and I think the same rules apply to real estate agents.  Take a look!

1.  Identify the type of work and clients you want. Reach out to the clients you’re after through your blog topics and the things they want to know about.

2.  Identify your target audience. Don’t be afraid to reach out to local newspapers or reporters to read your blog.  Teaming up with local news can mean they highlight your blog as a local real estate resource.

3.  Listen. The quickest way to earn someone’s attention is by listening to and sharing what they have to say.  Use your clients feedback for a blog topic!

4.  Network. Use the blog as a way to introduce yourself to new people.

5.  Invest the time. Like any business development effort, blogging takes time. Unlike advertising, for which people expect immediate results, networking through the Internet to build relationships and a strong reputation can take a year or two — though, that’s faster than doing so offline.

6.  Complement blogging with short-form social media. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even a website should all be roads leading to your blog.

This blogging strategy should help you hone in on creating a blog that’s pertinent for clients, leads and even reaches out to local sources and your social media.  To be a top blogger, investing the time and energy into a your blog is imperative and will build trust and, even a following.

No problem ;)! So many people have trouble keeping up with blogging, and it's understandable. It takes time to sit down, write an article, make it SEO-friendly, and post it on your blog, and most agents are far too busy for that. With all of the organic Google juice and SEO benefits you get from blogging, however, it's a shame to let it slide or to not use the platform to its fullest potential. We help many of our clients out with blogging in order to ensure that they post consistently and get custom-written, SEO-friendly posts! You'll catch up. You just need to invest the time ;). Thanks for the comment!
