Add Color to Your Glenview Home

Spring is surely on its way, and what a better way to welcome it than with new colors in your Glenview home? Sounds simple enough, right? That is, until you get to the paint store and see all the fabulous colors available to put on your walls.

Here are a few things to consider when making color choices for your home:

Do you have a large room that you want to appear to be a bit smaller and cozier? Then consider choosing red, yellow or orange. Golden yellows and orange hues are also a good way to release your creative juices--perhaps in the home office or sewing room.

If you're afraid that by using too many neutral colors you may end up with a really dull-looking living space, pick a big, bold color, such as turquoise, red or plum to accent the neutrals in such items as throw pillows, lamps, vases, you name it.

Overall, your dominant color choice should be used in 60 percent of the room, most likely on the walls. 30 percent of the room should use a secondary color in such things as upholstery, with the accent color  consuming about 10 percent of a room's color. Just enough to add some pizzazz!
