Today is National Pet Day -- Fun Things To Do On Facebook
National Pet Day was founded by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige, who also founded National Dog Day and National Cat Day {among others} and is sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation & Network, to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create public awareness about the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters all across the nation. -- |
The numbers of animals that are euthanized in the USA every single day is staggering. I don't want to tell you what that number is -- unbelievable.
For those that love pets, value the unspoken love they give and cherish the spirits of all creatures . . . let's not talk about the sad realities. Let's focus on the good things that pets bring and the good and nice people who care.
Today is National Pet Day and there's a ton of fun things to do on Facebook and that's because there are so many pet owners on Facebook! Sorry, this is kinda dog-lopsided.
Here are a few fun things:
- Kodak invites us to post our pet pics on their wall in honor of National Pet Day.
Kodak's Facebook site: "Today is National Pet Day! Share a photo of your pet/pets on our wall to celebrate!"
- Dogs Are Family -- Love this Facebook page. Love the photos! I have "Liked" them and now they are on my newsfeed. I love to look at the photos that come through on the feed.
- Dog About Town Northwest -- a great resource for dog owners. Funny stories, nice pet products. stories posted which are touching and kind, adoption notifications.
- Life With Dogs -- good tips from traveling with dogs, to caring for them as they age, wonderful adoption stories, calls to action, involvement with ASPCA, news stories from around the world.
- Puppy Resuce Mission -- I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this program. The stories are genuine and real. Soldiers who find strays, rescue animals and bring them back to base -- they fall in love and want to bring their pet buddies home.
"The primary mission of Puppy Rescue Mission is to fundraise and assist various organizations which help soldiers bring their furry friends home from war. While PRM's primary mission is to assist soldiers and their furry friends, PRM will also, from time to time, assist an organization in rehoming a stray animal."
If you cannot have a pet, please consider donating to a worthy cause.
