Looking for new gadgets or strategies?  Are you really using what you have?

It's easy to get caught up in Gadget Hoopla.  If you have a laptop, you have to get that iPad.  If you have the iPad, you have to get that iPad 2- and swap stories with all of the other folks in line with you at 4 a.m.  Got an iPod?  Well, you're missing out if you don't have an iTouch.

Technology is great and all, but are we losing something by engaging in that never-ending pursuit of the Next Big Thing?  I think it's fair to say that many in our industry are- and they're doing so by not maximizing the tools they already have before they decide that they "need" the next hot thing that comes along.

I've realized that I'm guilty of it.  While not a big "gadget guy" that has to have the iWhatevers, I do plead nolo contendre to the charge of not taking full advantage of the various listing tools I've got at my disposal- and of not maximizing the benefits of the dang Top Producer program my broker has for us.

Just as many with cluttered homes have pledged that they won't bring another item into their home unless another item leaves their home, I'm pledging to explore every great piece of Top Producer 8i before signing up for any other junk.

Top Producer 8i is the current version and all, so I should be OK with it for a while!

So...how about you?  Next Big Thing...or using what you've got?

Dennis, this is my husband.. not me. I had the old flip phone for years until finally I was urged to upgrade. I do love my smart phone now and because we are in the tech business and do websites my husband has been nudging the iPad thing.. well he finally got his wish and it IS for business, to test sites on, but I have a hard time when the "thing" I have works just fine.

I think you can use any of these things as long as they are used on a consistency basis. BTW there is no magic bullet.

Hi, Tammy:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Until about a year and 1/2 ago, I had a Motorola flip phone, too- better than a smart phone when it comes to which one you'd rather see bouncing on the ground in the parking lot!  I'm going back/forth on the iPad...maybe when the iPad 5 comes out...

Hi, Winston:  Thank you for your comment.  True.  A bit of "use it or lose it" applies here, in that you either use something consistently and have it work well for you OR you lose interest in it.  There's not a magic bullet?  How do you explain the Kennedy assassination, then?  Kidding, of course...

It's just hard to keep up with all the progress. My husband bought 4G phone in July of the last year used it fo a while, than he gave it to me, I thought that it was cool at first but I hated touchscreen texting on it and after a month I passed it to my son . He is 16 and very exited to have it. I was SO happy to get my Nokia back, after all I use it for phone calls and some notes only. As for iPad, we have one, but I know it will take time to get use to it so I am not sure if I will use it. I am pretty happy with my laptop. Sometimes I am thinking that if Microsoft would support Windows 95 I would still be on that version LOL

Hi, Anna:  Thank you for dropping by.  I fought the smartphone, and now enjoy things it helps me with (after a long time).  I have more apps than I ever thought I'd have (free, of course)- yet I know that I'm not even getting full benefit of those....
