I just saw a preview for a new movie coming out. Generally I don't pay a lot of attention to movie trailers, as I'm a confirmed NETFLIX guy. (That way people kicking the back of my seat and talking on their cell phones don't become a source of frustration for me)
But this one talked about a concept that caused my ears to stand up. A BUCKET LIST.
The list of things you want to do before you kick the bucket. What a great idea! I'm thinking that I have to have one.
I've had a 'Life List' of performances/performers I really wanted to see. I've made pretty good progress on that list, but it's probably time to update that list too. I've already managed to put a check mark beside:
- Itzhak Perlman
- Crosby,Stills, Nash & Young
- Simon and Garfunkel
- Paul Simon (The Graceland Tour)
- Bette Midler
- Chicago Symphony
- New York Philharmonic
- Ramsey Lewis Trio
- Chick Corea
- B.B. King
That's a list that could go on and on. But this whole Bucket List adds a new dimension to it. While the brief reference in the movie trailer sounded like a MASTER TO-DO list, I'd be inclined to expand it to a: TO DO, TO SEE, TO TRAVEL TO, TO MEET... and on and on and on.
I'm thinking things like travel to Egypt and see the great pyramids, see my son perform his MAJOR SYMPHONY DEBUT (on his Bass Trombone), to travel to Europe to visit my daughter in whatever country she's living in any given year, to write books, to speak and teach and train all over the country (maybe the world), to make a Major US City tour where the 1st night is dinner in a very notable restaurant, the 2nd night is the symphony, the 3rd is either opera or ballet, the 4th is on to the next city.
Wow, and that's just off the top of my head, and doesn't include things like: live debt free, help to feed the hungry, house the homeless, make the world a more peaceful, caring place.
I have a lot of years left, so my list could be quite long, and very satisfying. I hope your's is too!
What would you put on your Bucket List?
