Columbus Blogroll - non real estate blogs

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

Columbus Ohio

Since real estate is local, I have a local blogroll on my two other blogs. Columbus Ohio is not be the epicenter of real estate blogging, according to Brian Brady, Phoenix is.

One of the recommendations from Brian's  Arizona Real Estate Roundtable  of bloggers was:

"The Solution; linking to local blogs for your "farm" area.  Note that we concluded you should link to local blogs, NOT local real estate blogs."

Below is the local blogroll from Discover Columbus (the original Columbus Best Blog.)

Columbus Blogs

Around the Oval
Bitchin' in the Kitchen with Rosie
Boys Wear Pants Men Wear Trousers
Buckeye Banter
Buckeye Commentary
Columbus Best Blog
Columbus Blue Jackets
Columbus Retro Metro
Dead Body Guy
Done Waiting
Ferret Press
Everyday is Like Wednesday
Innerart CharlieBits
It's a Paul World
Jason's Page
Men of the Scarlet and Gray
Restaurant Widow

I also have a short Ohio blogroll... more food, Ohio murder mystery authors and a great Ohio blog. I took off some of the Columbus links here ... food and football (Buckeye football) are the most likely suspects when it comes to local blogs.  Columbus Retro Metro is real estate, but he is not a REALTOR®...Brian's "Note that we concluded you should link to local blogs, NOT local real estate blogs. " I think if it is good content, I might... I have a link to my companies Real Estate Blog.......In St. Paul, Bonnie has a link to Teresa on her Real Estate Snippets blog...and vice versa.

I have avoided political blogs but they sure get a lot of traffic.  Carole Cohen and I played with some political issues on our blogs before the election this fall. The visitors I got from those blogs were better behaved than I expected.

There are other local blogs out there, I need to work on my Columbus blogroll more. I was lucky there was a site dedicated to Columbus blogs when I first started my blog. That site come over run with spam since.  I find local blogs via Technorati and Google Blog search now mostly.  I keep thinking I have found all the local blogs and I will find one with an archive going back to.....

I have tried to comment on most of these blogs. Unfortunately on some of the topics (sports comes to mind) I can not comment intelligently...  My Discover Columbus blog has a category about Columbus blogs and I have written about the blogs on my blogroll.  I often blogged about Columbus blogs on Saturday or Sunday... bloggers read blogs on weekends accoding to my stats.

Food, sports, politics, entertainment seem to be the majority of the topics... and cartoons. Comics?  Columbus is kind of cartoony.

Hey Maureen - Only you could lost a blog.  When you find it, put a short leash on it.  Or handcuffs.

:)

This is serious... it is too young to be out there lost on the blogosphere.  No time for jokes Don, I think it has been kidnapped.

Kidnapped?  Uh oh.  Should we alert the authorities?  Post flyers in the neighborhood?  Do you have a picture of the blog?  We can put it on milk cartons...

It was just kind of red and white... kinda polka dotted because I couldn't figure out how to put a logo in the template...  It's not on any milk cartons yet.

Maureen F's blog was hacked into in November or December... funny message about bots?  Rain City Guide was hijacked last fall... not funny message...   The good thing is, it is not showing....

MoMac:

I really like this directory.  I think if you actively comment on all of those blogs as well as mention them in your posts, you'll emerge as the top blog in Columbus

So which blog is now Discover Columbus?  and is the new blog Columbus Best Blog?  Difficult keeping track of everything.  I don't know how you manage to post to 3 blogs!  I struggle with two!

Sorry to confuse you.

Columbus Best Blog is the new blog... not much on it.  Discover Columbus is the RT Blog, the original Columbus Best Blog... I don't know why but I wanted that domain...and wanted it to be the real name of the blog not a pointer...  Thanks to John Novak saying Discover Columbus I had thought of it but no one suggested it in the WWBD and long into the thread on naming blogs here...

Then Elaine said "Discover Columbus"  might be copyrighted.....

Maureen, how do you find local blogs?  I think it's a great idea to link to local blogs in your own local blog!  Cool marketing idea, one that I'm going to work on for our own group blog.

I never knew you could lose a blog.  Say it isn't so, Maureen!!!  Oh well, at least it found it's way home again, but it's not going to give my blog buddies here in Connecticut a lot of confidence if they find out someone could hijack our blog.  Guess I won't let them read this entry of yours!  HA!

Liz I found some of the groups through a site called Columbus Blogs... I am not going to give you the link, as it got over run with spam... porn, gambling, drugs...not a place to visit anymore but it got me started.   I use Google and Technorati to find Columbus Blogs and look at who those I find are linked to.

My WP blog is back.  My host seems oblivious so maybe it was just a server issue that resolved itself, rather than my blog being lost, stolen, kidnapped, hijacked.  I hope that is all it was. I only knew it was missing for about 5 hours or so... it disappeared over night.  Active Rain has security... my blog on RT has never wandered off... to me WP is the wild, wild west.... your vendor when you do your other blog should be able to offer you security so your blog does not wander off into the blogging wilderness on it's own or by the actions of others.
