Some Creatures Aren't Meant to be Domesticated

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with MoonDancer Realty, Dillsboro,NC NC# 218097

Some creatures aren’t meant to be domesticated and ought to be allowed to roam freely about their native habitats. Very few Tree Dudes have ever been tagged with numbers and this display of captivity feels to me almost like harboring exotic animals. It was evident that this Tree Dude felt a little chagrined with his ID number branded on his brow and his feet entwined in flowers for all to see. (I've obscured the number to prevent further humiliation).

This Tree Dude will likely long outlive the flowers and the life of the wooden plaque.  But with his very long memory, he'll never forget his time in captivity.

Mona, in Southwest Florida most land has been completely cleared and then developed. We have little long living vegetation or trees. Always nice to visit other areas where nature is preserved. Enjoy your views and your day!

Josh...whatever.

Wayne, the trip to FL last month only took me as far south as St Pete which still seems to have some nice forest growth...still didn't see any Tree Dudes.  You'll need to visit the Smoky Mtns and enjoy the views with us.

Roger, excuse me but you are dripping with so much sincerity that I must find a quilted picker upper quickly before someone slips on the floor and creates a greater mess.

I think Josh may have a crush on you. (rolling eyes)  Hey I have a couple of tree dudes in my yard.  But no numbers. :)

Tammy, I hope you aren't jealous...don't be, I'm just one of many...or at least one of ten per day.  Your tree dudes are there because they want to be.

Poor tree dude.  He looks a little miffed.  I don't blame him.  he provides so much for the environment.

He looks great.  Reminds me of the George RR. Martin  " A Song of Ice & Fire"  where the heart tree, which has a face, is the center of the Godswood and takes on an ever expanding role in the last book, " A Dance With Dragons.  Interesting

Mona-Sad face that beautiful tree has. He needs to spreads his leaves and leave.  Josh is only one of many who does that kind of comment. I had a different on one of my posts the other day and wouldn't have thought anything of it until I saw the same one on several more folks blogs. For them they will NEVER understand what AR is REALLY all about. How is Charlie Chaplin doing?

Belinda, one day there will be a different resident at the house and they will no doubt liberate him.

Ken, I can't wait to check that out.  Thanks.

Sharon,  Charlie is doing marvelously.  Now, if we can only figure out how to keep cat fur on the cat.

William, thanks for the compliment.  My mother sent me my report cards from grade school and one of the teachers mentioned that I live in my own world, lol.

Love your closing statement:  This Tree Dude will likely long outlive the flowers and the life of the wooden plaque.  But with his very long memory, he'll never forget his time in captivity.

The memory of the plant kingdom humbles the frgility of the animal kingdom.  The oldest living animal, a tortous is about 175 compared to some plant life of 12,000 plus years.  Some trees have been alive for 12,000 years.

There are a couple of TED Talks that you would probably enjoy:  Rachel Sussman:  The world's oldest living things and Ricard Preston on the giant trees.

Mona, how delightful you are, my friend! I was at your Speechless Sunday photo, went below to comment and got caught by this post and here I am instead! Since we are Tree People, we fell this guy's pain. (Loved the mouth on him, totally captures the mood).

I always love your take on things.

Good Morning Mona!!

I love Tree Dudes.  We are moving soon and the house is on a beautiful 2 acre lot that's about 1/2 wooded.  I am hoping one of those guys will like us and show up in our "forest"!!
