Street Sign Graffiti - does this happen to you?

Maui Street Signs - Sticker Graffiti

Sometimes I like to take pictures of goofy things, like these various street signs around Paia and Haiku on Maui.

People seem to have a lot of time on their hands, and enjoy putting stickers on things.

I have to admit it makes for a laugh once in a while.

Who are these people?  Where do they get those stickers?

I recognize some of them coming from the surfing industry.... we have a lot of surf punks in Paia.

All eyes seem to be on this one sign.

Stop and smell the roses indeed!

Do you get this kind of thing in your neighborhood?  Or is this a Paia thing?  I don't get out much, so maybe you can enlighten me.

Thanks for STOPping by.

I haven't seen this kind of thing on actual road signs here, but the telephone poles are absolutely covered with flyers for bands, etc.

We have a city "Winter Park"... there are very expensive homes there.  As you drive into Winter Park the sing is supposed to say "Drive with extraordinary care"  ....  It they dropped the e on care....  I chuckle as I drive by.

Jason - that's nice to know you have an active music scene, we are lacking in that respect

Debbie - will you be sneaking out in the night to cover up that E?

Georgina...

In our neck of the woods it's common to see stop sign that have bullet holes in them :)

P.S. I kid you not :)

TLW...ROAR!

No stickers some graffiti, But while on Kodiak Ak. this summer they had signs posted NO SHOOTING FROM ROAD. I'll have to post it... One was because it was in a school zone.  I felt like I stepped back in time. Wow what an experience! Cann't wait to go back!  :)

We see this here, more at the beach areas and yes mostly surfing/skating related stickers.

01/13/2008 07:41 PM by Elaine Stewart, Palm Springs Real Estate (Remax Real Estate Consultants - Platinum Club Member)

TLW - Yeah we get those too.

Heather - That sounds wild!

Elaine - Thanks for mentioning that.

Sometimes I look around Haiku, and think it looks really hillbilly around here, but it's not really!

Wow - I've seen some bad signs but the ones in your pictures take it too a new level.  Luckily, here in Bergen County its not that bad!

Sal - lol - I guess it's just another sport around here.

That is "graffiti" of a totally different kind than I have seen here in Seattle, funny!  Now I have seen the kind with all the holes shot in them out in the country...most country sides I have driven in!

Maui SignI noticed the signs when I was on Maui last week.  I took a picture of one while I was there.

I was wondering.  Do you have problems with them putting stickers on your real estate signs?

01/15/2008 04:05 AM by Randy L. Prothero - Hawaii REALTORĀ® (Century 21 Liberty Homes)

Deborah - I guess the bullet holes are everywhere then.

Randy - that's a good one!  I haven't ever noticed real estate signs with stickers on them.  But if you put your sign on country property (roadsides) you will probably never see it again after about a week.

Georgina, don't see that type of graffiti in Sacramento but sure did in Maui and Paia while I was there. It actually is pretty funny when you actually stop and read some of the stuff they place on signs.

Thank you very much for sharing, I haven't been to Maui in many years and don't see that kind of stuff on Oahu...I am sure it will spread eventually.

01/19/2008 03:10 PM by Shane Sarae, Senior Mortgage Planner (Loan Network LLC)

Gena - I can't help but laugh at some of them.

Shane - I'm surprised you don't get it over there too... maybe up on the north shore?

STOP WAR,  I like that ONE................................  Get-R-Done.

01/25/2008 06:56 PM by Cowboy Gonzalez (Century 21 Olde Tyme)

We get it here in California, along with a lot of other stuff.  I HATE IT!

01/29/2008 06:53 PM by Joseph Lang - Southern California Home Inspector (Pillar To Post Professional Home Inspection)

Joseph - I guess it's a beach community thing.  Why is that?

01/30/2008 09:51 PM by Georgina Hunter Maui Realtor (Jim Sanders Realty Inc. - Maui)

Georgina...Love the Stop war one.  Haven't seen any out my way but then again we don't have all that many stop signs!

Cheers,

Kathleen

Kathleen - How nice that you don't have stop signs.... just full speed ahead!

Benjamin - It's those surf punks again... haha

I am going to propose a new law. The right to shoot taggers on sight or hang'em high.

03/06/2008 12:10 AM by Cowboy Gonzalez (Century 21 Olde Tyme)

hey Cowboy - how did you slip by me?  If I see one, I'll most definitely shoot him... if I have my camera handy.
