Mop Tops (No, Not Those Famous British Guys) Amaranthus Bicolor

These are so pretty and so unusual to see. They are Amaranthus Bicolor (Molten Fire) and massed together they are stunning.

Amaranthus Bicolor

These are on display at Epcot during the Flower and Garden Show in April/May.

Amaranthus Bicolor

Those red colored tops are the foliage; not flowers. They change as they age.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Toni,

I did not know they were called mop tops, and it is a good name.  I just saw them at the market in deep burgundies.  Very nice photos and thanks for teaching me something new. A

It is so funny how certain subject lines provide us with an imaginary preview of what is to come.  With this blog, it certainly wasn't flowers that I had in mind. . .I'm pleasantly surprised!  Gorgeous colors!

Howdy and evening Toni

Toni my friend, those Amaranthus Bicolor sure are mighty fine looking, I have not ever come along any in the many different areas I have lived. I'm going to see if I can find some where that I can get some for next year.

Have a good one

Rob - I think they need a very warm climate.

Belinda - They are so much more dazzling in "person" too.

Endre - very true!

Donna - glad to share.

William - I agree, I wrote it down when we saw them but did a lot of research to find them on the internet. I just didn't believe that was the name.

Dale - I'm looking for them too; I may buy seeds from an online catalog and try that.

Larry & Sheila - glad I could brighten your viewing experience :)

Toni, I guess when the word "vivid" was invented it had to have been so it could be used to describe colors like these.
